Farwell suffered extensive damage to his groin in Friday's exhibition game against the Bears, Fox 13 reports. Coach Pete Carroll said Monday that Farwell needs surgery, but he doesn't know how long he will be out. Farwell was being challenged for the backup MLB spot by Brock Croyle, who now looks all but guaranteed to win the job. It's a bigger loss for the Seahawks on speical teams, though, where Farwell has been the captain the last two years.
