Smith was spotted on crutches and wearing a walking boot Friday after injuring his ankle during the first quarter of Thursday's loss to the Packers, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Despite suffering the injury early, Smith still played all 54 defensive snaps for the Vikings, as the training staff was able to stabilize the ankle by taping it up. With the ankle swelling up overnight, the team sent Smith for an MRI, but coach Mike Zimmer said nothing significant was found. While it's good news, and the Vikings have a couple extra days to prepare for Week 6, Smith will likely need to log at least a couple limited practices next week in order to suit up against the Lions.
