Schwartz (toe) has been placed on short-term IR by the Giants, Ralph Vacchiano of the Daily News reports.
The report notes that Schwartz can return to practice after Week 6, and is eligible play after Week 8, with the move freeing up a roster spot for the team's addition of fellow guard Adam Snyder.

Schwartz (toe) will not require season-ending surgery to repair his dislocated right big toe and will instead be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, NFL.com reports.
Schwartz was carted off during Friday's preseason game, but he fortunately avoided a season-ending injury. The Giants' starting left guard will wear a walking boot for 7-10 days before beginning his rehabilitation program. From there, Schwartz will be evaluated on a weekly basis. As such, he figures to miss the beginning of the regular season, which forces the Giants to re-shuffled an already revamped offensive line.

Schwartz left Friday's game with a dislocated toe and will not return, Fox Sports 1's Mike Garafolo reports.
This is actually about as good of news as Schwartz and the Giants could hope for after he was carted off the field after being unable to put weight on his right foot. He will probably miss at least a couple weeks of the regular season, but it shouldn't be a season-ending injury.

New Giants OL Geoff Schwartz expects to start at left guard.
Schwartz can play both guard spots and right tackle, and reports have been all over the place on which position he's expected to play for his new team. That will be settled on the practice field this summer. The Giants have more moves to make on the offensive line. Wherever Schwartz plays, he'll be an asset.

The Giants are expected to use newly signed Geoff Schwartz at right tackle.
It sounds like they'll be moving 2013 first-rounder Justin Pugh to left tackle, replacing 2013 flop Will Beatty. This is just a tentative plan, however, as positions will be decided on the practice field in training camp. If Beatty takes a step forward, there's a chance Pugh could move to left guard.

Giants agreed to terms with G/T Geoff Schwartz, formerly of the Chiefs.
The Giants seemed to be the favorites to land Schwartz all along. Their only real competition was the Rams, and anybody would choose New York over St. Louis. Schwartz will likely play left guard for the G-Men. He can also play right guard and right tackle. Chris Snee and Justin Pugh will man the right side of the offensive line. The Giants now need to find a center to replace David Baas.

NFL.com's Mike Silver reports a "battle is shaping up" between the Giants and Rams for free agent G/T Geoff Schwartz.
Both teams have extreme needs along their offensive lines, particularly in the interior. That's where Schwartz is best utilized. Schwartz can play both guard spots and right tackle. Schwartz was a one-year bargain in free agency last season, but that won't be the case this year.

The Newark Star-Ledger reports the Giants are one of three teams interested in free agent G/T Geoff Schwartz.
The Rams are believed to also be in the mix. Schwartz isn't going to be back in Kansas City and is easily the top free-agent guard available. The Giants love versatility in their lineman. Schwartz can play bot guard spots and right tackle.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Rams are showing interest in free agent G/T Geoff Schwartz.
A mauler in the run game, Schwartz stands 6-foot-6, 340 and can play both guard and right tackle, though his best position is inside. The Rams appear to have given up on re-signing Rodger Saffold. Schwartz looks like their "Plan B."

The Chiefs met with free agent RG Geoff Schwartz at the Combine.
Schwartz, 27, was one of the most effective guards in the league last season despite making only eight starts. He's expressed in returning with the Chiefs, but it remains to be seen if they're willing to meet his asking price. "Schwartz loved it in Kansas City and would love to come back," agent Deryk Gilmore confirmed. "He wants to be paid like a starter."
