Toussaint is "locked in a battle" to emerge as the Steelers' No. 3 running back, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Toussaint, who was pressed into added action at the end of last season due to injuries in the Steelers' backfield, faces competition from Daryl Richardson on that front, with the back who claims the job worth keeping in mind, given that the team's top back Le'Veon Bell's faces a potential four-game suspension to start the 2016 season. Meanwhile, veteran DeAngelo Williams remains the Steelers' clear-cut No. 2 back.

Toussaint rushed 12 times for 39 yards and a fumble in the Steelers' loss to the Broncos on Sunday. He also caught three passes for two yards.
EDGE Analysis
The only turnover of the game, Toussaint apparently had gained first down yardage in Denver territory when the ball was popped out by Bradley Roby and recovered by DeMarcus Ware. The Broncos then drove 65 yards for a touchdown to take a 20-13 lead that would not be relinquished. After spending most of the season on the Steelers' practice squad, Toussaint did an admirable job filling in for an injured DeAngelo Williams (foot) last week against Cincinnati, rushing for 58 yards on 17 carries, and catching four of eight targets for 60 yards. Previously, he had struggled in limited action, gaining just 42 yards on 18 carries during the regular season. In his two seasons in the league, Toussaint has rushed for a total of 54 yards on 24 carries (2.3 average), caught three passes, and has never scored a touchdown. Fantasy owners should not expect much more from him in 2016.

Toussaint ran for 58 yards on 17 carries Saturday in the Steelers' win over the Bengals.
EDGE Analysis
Forced in to action after DeAngelo Williams suffered a high ankle sprain in the final game of the regular season, Toussaint also caught four passes for 60 yards after going without a reception all season. If Williams, who was inactive for this game, is still limited, Toussaint would be in line for another large workload against the Broncos in Week 19.

Toussaint is expected to lead the Steelers' rushing attack Saturday against the Bengals, since teammate DeAngelo Williams (ankle) has been ruled out, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Toussaint has rushed just 18 times for 42 yards this season, but the second-year tailback is slated to assume the bulk of Pittsburgh's backfield work Saturday in wake of Williams' untimely injury. While offensive coordinator said Toussaint will be "the guy", fellow running back Jordan Todman also figures to see some touches in this weekend's testy postseason tussle.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin heaped praise upon Toussaint during Tuesday's media session, according to Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
EDGE Analysis
Praise from some coaches is entirely meaningless, but Tomlin isn't one of those guys, as he sometimes criticizes his own players (see: Martavis Bryant) during press conferences. Tomlin made it quite clear that the team is legitimately excited to have Toussaint around, whereas last year's playoff fill-in at running back (Josh Harris) was merely signed because "he was able and available" (Tomlin's words). Given that DeAngelo Williams (foot) is unlikely to be ready for Saturday's playoff game against the Bengals, Toussaint is the best bet to lead the Pittsburgh backfield, with Jordan Todman and fullback Will Johnson likely playing supporting roles. Of course, Williams hasn't officially been ruled out, and the team would be thrilled if he's able to play.

Toussaint carried the ball 12 times for 24 yards in relief of DeAngelo Williams during Sunday's win over Cleveland. Williams was in a walking boot following the contest, Missi Matthews of Steelers.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Toussaint more than doubled his season total in rushing yards with his modest production on Sunday. The Steelers have leaned heavily on their lead back all season, first with Le'Veon Bell and then DeAngelo Williams. Should Williams miss next week's Wild Card game, Toussaint would have the advantage of knowing the offense over anyone the Steelers may bring in off the street.

Toussaint ran for 12 yards on four carries in Pittsburgh's win over Indianapolis on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
In his first action since being activated from the practice squad, Toussaint looked good, matching his total rushing yardage from last season with Baltimore. However, he serves only to provide DeAngelo Williams with the occasional breather.

The Steelers have promoted Toussaint from their practice squad to the team's active roster, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Toussaint will replace fellow running back Isaiah Pead on the team's roster and is now in line to work behind DeAngelo Williams and Jordan Todman in the Steelers' backfield.

Toussaint has landed a spot on the Steelers' practice squad, Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Toussaint was waived by the rival Ravens days earlier after losing out on a depth role at running back. The former University of Michigan back gained 51 yards on 15 carries during the preseason, while reeling in six passes for 37 yards in the passing game.

Toussaint was released by the Ravens on Saturday, the Ravens' official website reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Ravens surprisingly released both Toussaint and Terrence Magee, leaving just two healthy running backs on the 53-man roster. One of the two could still rejoin the team before the regular-season opener, but it probably wouldn't be Toussaint.
