Page was released by the Buccaneers on Sunday, Ira Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune reports. Page handled almost all of the kick return duties last season, but was cut two days before the team must trim the roster to 75. Solomon Patton stands to take over punt and kickoff return duties, a role for which he seems well-suited if preseason returns are any indication.

Bucs re-signed exclusive rights free agent WR Eric Page to a one-year contract. Page was active for every game last season, bringing back 23 punts for 251 yards and 22 kickoffs for 548 yards. He caught just four passes for 68 yards.

Bucs WR Eric Page has worked himself into the mix for return duties. An undrafted free agent last year, Page missed all of 2012 due to ACL surgery. The Bucs are giving him an extended look on punt and kick returns, but he remains a long shot for the 53-man roster.

He was later released in July after tearing his ACL. Page isn't particularly fast despite his small stature, but he did catch 125 passes in his junior season.
