Manning has finished 23rd or worst in quarterback scoring three times since Week 12, a trend that has potential to continue when the Giants take on a Colts defense that entered the weekend allowing 19 passing touchdowns in 2018, tied for seventh-fewest in the NFL.

The Giants have been impressed with Manning's play in recent weeks and could keep the veteran quarterback on the roster in 2019, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. "He is, from what I understand, playing his way onto the roster in 2019," Rapoport said of Manning on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football Weekend" program. "Sources I talked to, were adamant, no decision has been made firmly. This is an offseason situation. But the way he has been playing, the way he has held up certainly opens up the possibility that he is back in 2019."

It's quite the turnaround in fortunes for Manning, who looked to be in jeopardy of losing his starting role to either Kyle Lauletta or Alex Tanney heading into a Week 9 bye. Though the Giants could give Lauletta some reps in Weeks 16 and 17 if the team is officially eliminated from the postseason, Manning will at least be under center Sunday against the Titans after posting a 10:2 TD:INT and 7.6 YPA over the past five games. If the Giants do decide to bring Manning back in 2019, he would be owed $16.5 million and wouldn't necessarily be locked in as the starter throughout the season in the event a young quarterback emerges as a viable successor.

Manning will look to get his numbers back up to par when he faces the Redskins in Week 14 matchup.

He hit Saquon Barkley for a 13-yard touchdown in the first quarter and helped build a big early lead, but he also threw a poor interception as he tried to force the ball to Odell Beckham Jr. in the end zone just before halftime. Considering the final score of the game, Manning's mistake actually looms much larger than it would appear on the scoresheet. He'll look to bounce back next Sunday against the Bears, but a matchup against one of the league's best defenses isn't exactly ideal for the veteran.

Manning's 12.83 YPA was actually a season high, meaning that his stellar day didn't just consist of dink-and-dunk throws. He'll look to build on Sunday's near-perfect effort versus the Eagles in Week 12

Without any turnovers either, Manning heads into Week 11's matchup against the Buccaneers in relatively good form.

In light of Manning's poor play through the Giants' first eight games, there was some thought that Shurmur might make a change behind center coming out of a Week 9 bye, but those plans likely went out the window after rookie fourth-round pick Kyle Lauletta was arrested Oct. 30 on three charges. Shurmur relayed Tuesday that Lauletta wouldn't be suspended by the team following the arrest, but the misstep will be enough for Manning to get at least one more start. It's worth noting that Shurmur wouldn't commit to Manning starting for the remainder of the season, according to Ryan Dunleavy of NJ.com, so the veteran signal-caller will need to step up his play if he's to earn future opportunities beyond Week 10. Manning draws a favorable matchup against a non-contending San Francisco squad short on secondary talent, but his lack of mobility in the pocket and poor downfield accuracy could continue to hinder his effectiveness.
