Brees (right shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brees is following a similar practice regimen to last week, meaning he likely will bump up to full participation for Friday's session. Assuming he does, he'll be in line to take on a 49ers defense Sunday that has conceded 228.6 passing yards per game and 16 touchdowns to quarterbacks in nine outings this season.

Brees (right shoulder) was limited at Wednesday's practice, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brees followed an LP/LP/FP practice regimen last week before escaping without a designation for this past Sunday's game at Tampa Bay. He proceeded to put together a classic performance, completing 26 of 32 passes for 222 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-3 victory. Assuming he follows a similar breakdown this week, Brees again should have his full allotment of skill-position talent as the Saints take on the depleted 49ers on Sunday.

Brees completed 26 of 32 pass attempts for 222 yards and four touchdowns in Sunday's 38-3 win over Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
This was a vintage Brees performance, as he slung the ball around to 12 different targets with pinpoint accuracy. The 41-year-old still averaged just 6.9 yards per attempt, and it seems as if the long ball will no longer be part of his game. That said, the return of Michael Thomas (ankle/hamstring) and Emmanuel Sanders (illness) will help mask the signal-caller's rapidly declining arm strength as opposing defenses can no longer key in on Alvin Kamara in the passing game. Brees and the Saints will take on an injury-ravaged 49ers squad Sunday, which will present another opportunity to put up a strong fantasy performance.

Brees (arm) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
Brees was a limited practice participant Wednesday and Thursday before upgrading to full participation at the end of the week. Meanwhile, Michael Thomas never quite took that last step to full participation, but a 'questionable' designation suggests he could be back on the field for the first time since Week 1. The Saints could use all hands on deck against a Bucs defense that ranks No. 1 in DVOA against the pass and No. 4 in net yards allowed per pass attempt (5.7).

Brees (right shoulder) was listed as limited on Thursday's injury report.
EDGE Analysis
Injuries have hindered the Saints' three most important skill-position players this week, but Alvin Kamara (foot) at least was able to elevate to full participation Thursday. Brees' right shoulder is capping how much he can do in practice, while Michael Thomas (ankle/hamstring) continues to log limited sessions. There doesn't seem to be any worry about Brees' ability to play Sunday in Tampa Bay, but Friday's injury report could stick him with a 'questionable' designation heading into the weekend.

Brees was limited in Wednesday's practice due to a right shoulder injury, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brees' ability to handle at least limited reps to begin the week would seem to indicate that he's not in serious danger of missing Week 9, but the 41-year-old's status in practice nonetheless will warrant close monitoring. Do-it-all backfield ace Alvin Kamara (foot) also was limited with what appears to be a minor injury Wednesday, but he seems to bet trending in the right direction for Sunday night's game against the Buccaneers. It likewise appears possible that Michael Thomas (ankle/hamstring), who also was limited, at least has a chance to return Sunday, so while numerous question marks remain, it's conceivable that Brees could finally get to suit up alongside his two top offensive weapons versus Tampa Bay.

Brees completed 31 of 41 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 26-23 overtime win over the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
Despite less-than-ideal conditions at Soldier Field and a severely depleted receiving corps, Brees put together an impressive performance, tossing red-zone TDs to Jared Cook in the second quarter and Taysom Hill in the fourth. The veteran QB has now thrown multiple touchdowns in five of seven starts this season, but he'll face a tough test in Week 9 on the road against a Buccaneers defense that held him to 160 passing yards and a season-low 5.3 YPA in their first meeting this year.

Brees completed 29 of 36 passes for 287 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Saints' 27-24 win over the Panthers on Sunday. He also rushed three times for two yards and another score while losing a fumble.
EDGE Analysis
Operating without Michael Thomas (ankle/hamstring) and Emmanuel Sanders (illness), Brees adapted like the future Hall of Famer that he is and tied his season high with an 80.6 percent completion rate. Brees also tossed multiple touchdowns for the third time in the last four contests, hitting Jared Cook and Deonte Harris on scoring tosses and adding a one-yard sneak early in the second quarter for his second rushing score of the campaign. Reports earlier in the day indicated both Thomas and Sanders could miss the Saints' Week 8 contest against the Bears as well, so the rapport Brees developed with the likes of Marquez Calloway (8-75) and Harris (4-46-1) on Sunday could pay dividends versus Chicago.

Brees completed 33 of 47 passes for 325 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Monday night's 30-27 overtime win against the Chargers. He also scored on a one-yard quarterback sneak.
EDGE Analysis
Brees got off to another rough start, as he struggled to test the defense vertically in the first half. In fact, while trying to layer a longer-distance pass, Brees overthrew his target for an interception in the second quarter. To end that period, however, Brees got New Orleans on the board with a touchdown plunge of his own, then turned things up in the second half. Most notably, the signal-caller found Jared Cook for a 41-yard score to begin the fourth, before engineering game-tying and game-winning drives after. In doing so, he racked up season highs in attempts, completions and yards, consistently connecting with new wideout Emmanuel Sanders along the way as well. That developing chemistry paired with top target Michael Thomas' likely return offers reasons for optimism when Brees takes the field following New Orleans' Week 6 bye.

QB FA
Brees completed 19 of 25 passes for 246 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 35-29 win over the Lions. He also recorded three rushing attempts for minus-3 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Brees was picked off on New Orleans' first offensive play, and the Saints found themselves down 14-0 by the next time they got the ball. It was all New Orleans from there, though, as Brees threw touchdowns of two and 20 yards to Tre'Quan Smith to put his team up 28-14 at the half. Those two passing scores coupled with a trio of rushing touchdowns provided just enough offense for New Orleans to avoid a third consecutive loss. Brees will hope to have No. 1 receiver Michael Thomas (ankle) back for the first time since the season opener for a Week 5 home matchup against the Chargers.
