Drew Brees completed 29-of-45 passes for 370 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in New Orleans' 31-24 Week 5 win over the Chargers. The game was Brees' 48th straight with at least one touchdown pass, moving him past Johnny Unitas for the all-time record. It was also the 17th time in his career he threw for four or more scores. This, despite the fact that Lance Moore was out with a hamstring injury, Jimmy Graham was hobbled by an ankle ailment and the Saints' running game was as lifeless as ever. The problem for the Saints remains a defense that can't stop anybody, not Drew Brees' offense. Brees has thrown for less than 325 yards just once in five starts. With the Saints on bye in Week 6, Brees will bring a 14:6 TD:INT ratio into his Week 7 matchup with the Bucs.

Drew Brees completed 35-of-54 passes for 446 yards and three touchdowns at Green Bay in Week 4. The Saints couldn't move the ball on the ground, but Brees was deadly accurate through the air. He hit Marques Colston for a 20-yard score, found Darren Sproles from six yards out just before halftime and dialed up Joseph Morgan for an 80-yard bomb. Brees is now tied with Johnny Unitas for the most consecutive games (47) with a touchdown pass. Only Dan Marino (13) and Peyton Manning (8) have more than Brees' seven career 400-yard games. Brees is on pace to go 440-of-764 (57.6 percent) for 5,400 yards and a 40:20 TD-to-INT ratio heading into Week 5 versus the Chargers.

Drew Brees completed 20-of-36 passes for 240 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in a Week 3 loss to the Chiefs. Brees staked the Saints to a 24-6 lead on his third touchdown pass with five minutes left in the third quarter, but the Chiefs successfully played keep-away behind Jamaal Charles' strong running thereafter. Brees had an interception, a pair of three-and-outs, and a safety on his next four series. His only overtime possession also resulted in a three-and-out. With a touchdown pass in 46 consecutive games, Brees is now within one of Johnny Unitas' record. He has a potential shootout in Green Bay next week.

Drew Brees (ankle) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. Brees needed to get his ankle taped in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss, but didn't miss any snaps. It's not a concern heading into Week 3.

Drew Brees completed 31-of-49 passes for 325 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions and added a rushing touchdown versus the Panthers in Week 2. Brees may miss Sean Payton's play-calling, but shaky pass protection has been the biggest problem through two weeks. His fantasy numbers would have been better had Lance Moore and Jimmy Graham not dropped easy touchdowns on back-to-back plays. Brees had to get his ankle taped in the fourth quarter, but didn't miss any time. He'll be fine for next week's game versus the fantasy-friendly Chiefs.

Drew Brees completed 17-of-25 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns and also scrambled for ten yards in the Saints' third preseason game Saturday night. The Saints' first-team offense played two quarters versus the Texans. Brees looked to be in midseason form, rifling a 20-yard score to Lance Moore in the left corner of the end zone and hitting Jimmy Graham from eight yards out between several Houston defenders in the second quarter. Through four August exhibitions, Brees is 32-of-47 (68.1 percent) for 357 yards (7.60 YPA), three touchdowns, and no interceptions. He's a shoo-in top-five fantasy passer.

Drew Brees played one possession in the Saints' preseason opener against the Cardinals Sunday night, completing 4-of-5 passes for 41 yards. The Saints didn't take any deep shots during Brees' brief stint, using a screen-based passing attack and power run game led by Pierre Thomas and Mark Ingram to score on the opening possession. Entrenched NFL first-teamers never play more than 5-12 snaps in the preseason opener, so it's not surprising that Brees' night was over quickly. He's a top-six fantasy quarterback for 2012.

The Saints' offense averaged 476.1 yards and scored more than 40 points six times in the 10 games Pete Carmichael Jr. called the plays last season.

Drew Brees insists becoming the highest-paid player in the league wasn't important to him. "I can tell you from the start of this negotiation, I have not thought once about, 'Hey, I want to be the highest-paid guy or what have you,'" Brees said. "It was more about trying to look truly, just objectively, at the numbers the last decade for a top-tier quarterback and where it has been and where it is going and just trying to do what is fair and justified." A lock for top-five fantasy status, Brees will open the season as Rotoworld's No. 4 quarterback.
