Sims has officially announced his retirement from the NFL via his Twitter account.
EDGE Analysis
Sims last played for the Bears and was released in the 2019 offseason. That did not stop him from attempting to find a new landing spot, but ultimately nothing panned out. As a result, he is officially hanging up his cleats. The Michigan State product was a fourth-round draft pick by the Dolphins in the 2013 NFL Draft. He will end his career with 91 receptions for 888 yards and nine touchdowns.

Sims was officially released by the Bears on Thursday, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
This was the clear way to go for Chicago given the $6 million in cap relief Sims' release provides -- not to mention the significantly underwhelming return on investment he provided when healthy. There could be a modest market for his services somewhere out there this offseason for teams in need of blocking from the tight end position.

Sims is expected to be released by the Bears, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
This was an obvious decision since Sims' release saves $6 million in cap space with less than $400,000 in dead money. After an unproductive 2018 campaign in which he caught just two of four targets for nine yards in eight games, Sims may not be in store for a very lucrative contract this offseason, but that's not to say he shouldn't have a problem finding a new home as a blocking specialist.

Sims (concussion) was placed on injured reserve on November 17 and ended the season with two catches for nine yards in eight games played.
EDGE Analysis
Sims primarily served as the Bears' blocking tight end while Trey Burton did most of the work as a receiver. Sims will go into the last year of his contract in 2019, but he could struggle to overtake Adam Shaheen as the Bears' second tight end.

The Bears placed Sims (concussion) on injured reserve Saturday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sims was set to miss his second straight game with a concussion, and it looks like the Bears did not think he was close to returning. He played a limited role for the team, so his absence is not expected to impact the offense in any way.

Sims (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 11's contest against the Vikings, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sims will miss his second-straight game with this concussion. The Michigan State product was unable to practice in any capacity this week. When Sims was playing, his role was very limited. Sims hasn't logged more than 20 offensive snaps in four games and hasn't been targeted in three.

Sims (concussion) did not practice Wednesday, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports..
EDGE Analysis
Sims continues to nurse a concussion suffered during Chicago's win over the Bills in Week 9. It remains to be seen whether the veteran tight end will suit up for Sunday's divisional tilt against the Vikings, but considering that Sims hasn't caught a pass since Week 1 his availability is unlikely to impact the Bears' offense one way or another.

Sims (concussion) was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lions, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sims suffered the concussion in last Sunday's win over the Bills and didn't make enough progress in the concussion protocol this week to have at chance at playing Week 10. The 27-year-old has been targeted only once over the last seven games, so the Bears passing game is unlikely to be majorly affected by his absence.

Sims sustained a concussion during Sunday's 41-9 win over the Bills, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sims will enter the concussion protocol, and should be considered questionable for next Sunday's divisional tilt against the Lions. The veteran tight end has not recorded a catch since Week 1, so his questionable availability is unlikely to have a large impact on Chicago's offense.

Sims failed to see a target in Chicago's Week 8 victory over the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
Sims hasn't recorded a reception since Week 1, making it unlikely he'll emerge as a fantasy option in the near future.
