Freeman had two carries for 31 yards Sunday against the Chiefs.
EDGE Analysis
The highlight of Freeman's Baltimore debut came on a 31-yard rush where he broke free in the open field for a big gain. Freeman had one other carry on the night -- a two-yard loss -- while Baltimore leaned on Lamar Jackson, Ty'Son Williams and Latavius Murray in the backfield. Freeman could become more involved as he gets acclimated to the offense, but he will be running at the third spot on the depth chart for the time being.

The Ravens plan to sign Freeman off their practice squad Thursday, the running back's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told Adam Schefter of ESPN.
EDGE Analysis
Despite being a member of Baltimore's practice squad for less than a week, Freeman will get added to the 53-man active roster ahead of Le'Veon Bell, who joined the practice squad three days prior to Freeman. A two-time Pro Bowl selection with the Falcons, the 29-year-old Freeman has been trending down since being limited to two games in 2018 due to groin surgery. He averaged a career-low 3.2 yards per carry in five games with the Giants in 2020 and couldn't win a depth role with the Saints during the preseason, but the running back-needy Ravens will look to see if he has anything left in the tank. Ty'Son Williams and Latavius Murray are both presumably ahead of Freeman in the pecking order for carries, but Freeman could end up being a factor on passing downs after Williams struggled in pass protection in his NFL debut Week 1 versus the Raiders.

Freeman wasn't promoted to the Ravens' active roster in advance of Monday night's game against the Raiders, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nor was was Le'Veon Bell, meaning that Ty'Son Williams, Latavius Murray and Trenton Cannon will handle the team's Week 1 backfield duties. How the trio fares Monday night likely will dictate whether either Freeman and/or Bell gain a promotion for this coming Sunday's contest against Kansas City.

Freeman has been added to the Ravens' practice squad.
EDGE Analysis
With J.K. Dobbins (knee), Gus Edwards (knee) and Justice Hill (Achilles) all having suffered season-ending injuries, the Ravens have quickly been adding depth to bolster a backfield that now rosters Ty'Son Williams, Latavius Murray and Trenton Cannon, with Freeman and/or Le'Veon Bell candidates to be elevated from the team's practice squad in advance of Week 1 action. Given the timing of all the running back personnel turnover, Williams figures to handle a key role Monday night against the Raiders, while Murray could soon thereafter emerge as a potential lead option. With that in mind, both Freeman and Bell profile as speculative roster adds, but they probably are worth a look for those looking to secure depth at the position.

The Ravens plan to add Freeman to their practice squad, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
This news comes in the wake of Gus Edwards suffering a potential season-ending knee injury in Thursday's practice. In the wake of Baltimore's latest major backfield injury, Ty'Son Williams profiles as the team's top healthy rushing option, with Trenton Cannon also on hand and veteran Le'Veon Bell a candidate to be summoned from the team's practice squad, which also reportedly is the expected outcome for Freeman.

Freeman was one of three running backs who worked out for the Ravens on Monday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The same applies to Le'Veon Bell and Elijah Holyfield, which makes sense in the wake of a report that Justice Hill has suffered a season-ending Achilles injury. For now, Gus Edwards and Ty'Son Williams are Baltimore's top healthy running backs, but adding depth at the position is apparently in the cards in short order. If Freeman ends up signing with the team, he'd be in a position to earn complementary work behind Edwards once he's familiar with the team's offense.

Freeman was released by the Saints on Tuesday, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman signed in late July and never had much shot at a roster spot without an injury occurring in front of him. The bigger question in New Orleans is how things shake out between Latavius Murray and Tony Jones, who are both competing for backup work behind Alvin Kamara. There have been rumors Murray will be released, but the Saints could also just keep both him and Jones. Meanwhile, Freeman could attract interest from a desperate team at some point this season, but it's also possible he's taken his last carry in the NFL.

Freeman rushed seven times for 18 yards while catching both of his targets for 14 yards during Monday's 23-21 preseason victory over Jacksonville.
EDGE Analysis
After totaling 10 yards on nine touches in the preseason opener, Freeman found more success Monday, but the 29-year-old still hasn't shown much to get excited about. Meanwhile, second-year running back Tony Jones has rushed for 106 yards on 12 carries while catching six of eight targets for 42 receiving yards through two preseason games. It's possible the Saints could carry four running backs into the regular season, but Freeman seems far from a lock to make the final roster.

Freeman signed a contract with the Saints on Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Freeman came in for a visit Saturday and the Saints were evidently impressed with what they saw, as they wasted little time in getting the veteran running back signed. If Freeman sticks with the Saints, they'll likely use him in tandem with Latavius Murray to spell superstar starter Alvin Kamara.

Freeman (ankle) is signing with the Buffalo practice squad, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Zack Moss (ankle) out for the rest of the playoffs, Buffalo has only T.J. Yeldon and 32-year-old Taiwan Jones as backfield options behind Devin Singletary on the active roster. This signing suggests Freeman has recovered from the ankle injury that prevented him from playing for the Giants after Week 7, though he won't necessarily be promoted to the active roster during Buffalo's playoff run. Yeldon is still the best bet to work behind Singletary this Saturday against the Ravens.
