Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik suggested earlier in the week that Singletary will likely "share the load" Sunday against the Jaguars with Dameon Pierce (ankle), who is active after missing Houston's last three games, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pierce served as Houston's starting running back for the first seven games of the season but was one of the NFL's least-efficient runners, averaging a paltry 3.0 yards on 109 carries. While Pierce has been out the last three games with a high-ankle sprain, Singletary has given life to Houston's ground attack, taking 65 carries for 288 yards (4.4 average) and two touchdowns while adding five catches for 17 yards. Though Pierce isn't expected to face any restrictions Sunday after practicing fully Wednesday through Friday, he could have to settle for the No. 2 role out of the backfield or work in a timeshare with Singletary. Even if that's the case, Singletary will likely lose out on some touches and snaps with Pierce back in the fold, making Singletary less appealing of a fantasy play than he had been in the past three weeks.

Singletary rushed 22 times for 112 yards and a touchdown and brought in both targets for six yards in the Texans' 21-16 win over the Cardinals on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Singletary got the starting call once again with Dameon Pierce (ankle) still sidelined and delivered a highly efficient performance the likes of which his injured teammate hasn't come close to generating this season. Singletary also added his second touchdown in as many weeks with an 11-yard run in the second quarter, rounding out his fantasy production nicely. Even if Pierce, who returned to a limited practice Friday, is able to suit up in a Week 12 matchup against the Jaguars, the pecking order in the backfield may have shifted in Singletary's favor for the time being.

Singletary again will operate as the Texans' top running back Sunday against the Cardinals with Dameon Pierce (ankle) ruled out for that contest.
EDGE Analysis
Singletary is slated for a third consecutive start with Pierce sidelined, and the former is coming off a career-best 150 rushing yards in this past Sunday's win at Cincinnati. Another 30-carry performance may not be needed this weekend versus Arizona, but he at least will be taking on a defense that has conceded the second-most touchdowns (14) to opposing running backs in 10 games this season.

Singletary carried 30 times for a career-high 150 yards and a touchdown and brought in his only target for 11 yards in the Texans' 30-27 win over the Bengals on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Singletary filled in for Dameon Pierce (ankle) for the second straight game, and on this occasion, he was the only Texans running back to log a carry. Singletary consistently exploited running lanes throughout the afternoon, with his long gain going for a modest 22 yards. He also recorded his first touchdown in a Texans uniform on a six-yard run midway through the third quarter, the perfect punctuation mark on the career-best performance. Given how much Pierce has struggled for running room when he's been healthy, it's certainly conceivable the backfield develops into much more of a timeshare whenever the second-year back returns to action.

With Dameon Pierce (ankle) ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Singletary is again expected to lead Houston's backfield.
EDGE Analysis
Pierce will miss his second straight game. Against the Bucs in Week 9, Singletary played 75 percent of the offensive snaps but struggled to get anything going on the ground, finishing with 26 yards on 13 carries. He added two catches for zero yards. Mike Boone will fill in as Singletary's change of pace.

Singletary rushed 13 times for 26 yards and netted no gain on two catches in the Texans' 39-37 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Singletary paced the Texans in rushing yards while serving as the de facto lead back in the absence of Dameon Pierce (ankle). Singletary found precious little running room against Tampa Bay's standout run defense, however, leading to minimal production relative to opportunity. The fifth-year pro could revert to a complementary role as early as a Week 10 road matchup against the Bengals.

Singletary's expected to handle the bulk of the backfield workload Sunday against the Buccaneers, as Dameon Pierce (ankle) has been ruled out.
EDGE Analysis
Singletary started the season as Pierce's backup but worked his way into a timeshare over the past two games, due in large part to Pierce's struggles. With Pierce sidelined, Singletary will get a chance to showcase his skills in a lead role, though he'll be doing so against a Tampa Bay defense that has allowed just one scrimmage touchdown to a running back all season. Mike Boone and Dare Ogunbowale will round out Houston's Week 9 backfield depth chart.

Singletary carried the ball 10 times for 30 yards and caught both his targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 15-13 loss to the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
Dameon Pierce and Singletary each saw 12 touches on the day, and neither was able to reach 50 scrimmage yards despite a matchup with a Carolina defense that came into the game ranked 31st in rushing yards per game allowed. The struggles of the Texans' running game will make Singletary little more than a deep-league bye replacement heading into a Week 9 clash with the Buccaneers.

Singletary rushed 12 times for 58 yards and caught one of two targets for four yards in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Singletary didn't have a rushing attempt in Week 5 and came in with just 95 rushing yards on 27 carries in 2023, but he set season highs in both rushing attempts and yards while Dameon Pierce plodded for 34 yards on 13 carries. Pierce is averaging just 2.9 YPC to Singletary's 3.9 on the season, so while neither running back has found much success, Pierce's struggles have opened the door for Singletary to take on a larger role. After a Week 7 bye, Houston's Week 8 matchup with Carolina's leaky run defense will present an opportunity for both running backs to raise those subpar YPC averages.

Singletary did not get a carry and failed to catch his lone target in Sunday's 21-19 loss to Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Singletary entered the game averaging eight touches per game, but the backup running back went largely unused over 17 snaps against the Falcons. Houston's ground game never got going, failing to reach 100 yards for the fourth time in five weeks, but that hadn't prevented offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik from giving Singletary more looks in previous weeks. There's only so many touches he'll get while Dameon Pierce is healthy, but Singletary could be part of the solution that fixes an offense tied for last in the league with 3.0 yards per carry.
