Browns head coach named Kizer the team's starting quarterback for the Week 8 matchup with the Vikings.
EDGE Analysis
Though Kizer was benched for the third time in as many appearances after struggling during Sunday's 12-9 overtime loss to the Titans, the Browns aren't quite ready to pull the plug on the rookie second-round pick. However, if Kizer's ball-protection issues crop up early in the Week 8 contest, it wouldn't be surprised if he received a quick hook in favor of Cody Kessler, who completed 10 of 19 passes for 121 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in relief of Kizer against the Titans. Kizer, who has completed just 52 percent of his passes while turning the ball over 13 times in six games, isn't worth owning outside of deeper formats that start two quarterbacks.

Kizer was replaced at QB by Cody Kessler in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Titans, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kizer was pulled from the game after throwing back-to-back interceptions. The rookie QB was also replaced at halftime of the Browns' Week 5 loss to the Jets and then gave way to Kevin Hogan, last weekend's starter against the Texans.

Browns head coach Hue Jackson announced Wednesday that Kizer would reclaim starting quarterback duties for Sunday's game against the Titans, Andrew Gribble of the Browns' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kevin Hogan's run as the starter lasted just one game after the second-year signal caller failed to deliver the Browns their first win of the season Sunday against the Texans, completing 20 of 37 passes for 154 yards while tossing three interceptions. Jackson's comments after the game hinted that Kizer, who submitted a league-worst 49.5 passer rating through his first five NFL starts, would receive another shot at running the offense, so it's not overly surprising that the team will turn to the rookie once again. While watching last Sunday's game from the sideline might have proven beneficial for Kizer, it's unlikely that he'll have gleaned enough from that experience to dramatically turn around his ugly numbers and make for an attractive fantasy option heading into Week 7. Until he reins in the turnovers and proves capable of consistently surpassing 200-plus passing yards in games, Kizer won't be deserving of much attention outside of leagues that start two quarterbacks.

Browns head coach Hue Jackson is expected to name Kizer the team's starting quarterback Wednesday in advance of Cleveland's Week 7 matchup against Tennessee, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Even after Kizer performed miserably in his first five NFL starts before being relegated to backup duties in Week 6 in favor of Kevin Hogan, it was widely expected that Kizer would get another crack at starting before the season concluded, given that the non-contending Browns have little to lose by handing the higher-upside rookie more in-game developmental opportunities. However, Kizer's appointment back into the starting lineup looks like it will come sooner than expected after Hogan, who shined in relief of Kizer in Week 5, was abysmal in last Sunday's loss to the Texans, completing only 20 of 37 passes for 140 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. With a league-worst 49.5 passer rating and nine interceptions through five contests, Kizer is unlikely to represent much of an upgrade, if any, from Hogan in his second trial as starter, so he'll need to dramatically raise his production before warranting much attention outside of deeper fantasy leagues that start two quarterbacks.

Browns coach Hue Jackson said he will announce his Week 7 starting quarterback Wednesday, choosing between Kizer and Kevin Hogan, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hogan was a complete disaster in Sunday's 33-17 loss to the Texans, producing just 3.8 yards per pass attempt while tossing a trio of interceptions. Kizer has suffered through a couple similarly poor performances this season, but it nonetheless seems his demotion may only last a week or two. The Browns face the Titans in Week 7.

Kizer will move to the bench for the Browns' Week 6 matchup Sunday with the Jets with head coach Hue Jackson naming Kevin Hogan the team's new starting quarterback, Andrew Gribble of the Browns' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hogan will become the Browns' 28th starting quarterback since the organization was revived in 1999, which comes on the heels of Kizer proving ineffective in Cleveland's 0-5 start to the season. Though the Browns have still publicly expressed faith in Kizer's future with the franchise, the rookie second-round pick hasn't looked ready for NFL action with a league-worst 49.5 quarterback rating to go with a 50.4 percent completion rate and nine interceptions in five games. After Kizer was benched in the first half of the Week 5 loss to the Jets, Hogan provided the Browns with a spark under center, completing 16 of 19 passes for two touchdowns and an interception. Hogan will now receive a chance to build on that performance, but given that he was beaten out by Kizer for the starting job in the preseason and is flanked by a poor receiving group, the Stanford product probably won't warrant much intrigue outside of two-quarterback fantasy formats.

The Browns will consider benching Kizer in favor of Kevin Hogan, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Hue Jackson has been adamant that Kizer will have a long leash, but the chain of events in Sunday's 17-14 loss to the Jets may have changed things. The rookie was benched at halftime after committing a pair of red-zone turnovers, and Hogan then came through with an effective second half, completing 16 of 19 passes for 194 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Kizer's 49.5 passer rating is easily the worst in the NFL among qualified quarterbacks, as is his 50.9 completion percentage. The Browns aren't ready to give up on him entirely, but it won't be shocking if they switch to Hogan for Sunday's game in Houston.

Kevin Hogan replaced Kizer in the second half of Sunday's game against the Jets, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to being replaced, Kizer had completed 8-of-17 passing attempts for 87 yards, with a pick and he also rushed six times for 29 yards. Kizer missed some snaps last weekend while dealing with a migraine, but there doesn't appear to be any health or injury concerns tied to him being pulled from this Sunday's contest.

Browns coach Hue Jackson said he expects Kizer to make it through all 16 games, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jackson was referring to the beating Kizer has taken (7.2 percent sack rate), but the coach's comments also serve to reiterate the notion that the rookie has a long leash. Despite being benched at the end of Sunday's 31-7 loss to Cincinnati, the 21-year-old Kizer is in no immediate danger of losing the starting job. He'll likely continue piling up sacks and interceptions while playing with a lackluster supporting cast, but the Browns hope he'll be better for it in the long run. Jackson said he has "total confidence" in his young quarterback as the Browns begin preparation for Week 5 against the Jets.

Kizer completed 16 of 34 passes for 118 yards and threw an interception during Sunday's 31-7 loss to the Bengals. He also rushed five times for 10 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Kizer was ultimately benched in favor of Kevin Hogan during the fourth quarter, as the rookie signal caller struggled with accuracy throughout the day. He completed just 47.1 percent of his passes, marking his third consecutive game under 50 percent. Kizer spent much of the game dumping off passes to Duke Johnson with nine completions (10 targets) to the running back, but regardless of his lack of weapons on offense, Kizer will need to improve in all facets of his game for the Browns to have any chance of putting one in the win column.
