James tallied nine tackles (seven solo), one interception and one pass defended in Sunday's 35-23 loss to the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
Add yet another "first" to James' ledger, that being his first career interception. It's hard not to get excited about the first-year safety, as James broke beautifully on a red zone pass from Jared Goff to tight end Gerald Everrett, stepping in front of the errant throw to record the pick. Perhaps the only mistake James had made through three weeks of returning the aforementioned interception out of the end zone, running out of bounds at the one yard line. That mistake promptly came back to bite the Chargers, as the Rams blocked the ensuing punt four plays later for a touchdown. Still, with Joey Bosa (foot) nowhere to be found, James has been easily the best player on defense through the first three weeks of the season, leading the team in sacks (2), solo tackles (15) and tying for the team-lead in interceptions. With C.J. Beathard likely to take over for the injured Jimmy Garoppolo next week, it seems likely James will continue his torrid pace against the 49ers.

James recorded eight tackles (seven solo), including a sack, and one pass defensed in Sunday's 31-20 win over the Bills.
EDGE Analysis
James has now recorded two sacks in as many games. His eight tackles were a marked improvement over his three tackle performance in Week 1. Thus far, the first-round safety has showcased the talent that made him a top-20 selection. Looking ahead, James and the rest of the Chargers defense will have their hands full in next week's tilt against the Rams.

James record three tackles (two solo), two passes defended and a sack in Sunday's 38-28 loss to the Chiefs
EDGE Analysis
James was one of just four players on defense to play every snap, quickly showing off his first-round pedigree by recording the Chargers first and only sack of the afternoon. After winning a spirited battle for the starting free safety job in the preseason, James appears poised to add another level of play-making ability to an already well-respected secondary. James, along with strong safety Jahleel Addae, may be on the cusp of being regular IDP options and should have plenty of opportunities to prove themselves in Week 2 against the lowly Bills.

Defensive coordinator Gus Bradley plans on starting James in Week 1 against the Chiefs, Jeff Miller of The Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Chargers listed Jahleel Addae and Rayshawn Jenkins as the starting safeties on their preseason depth chart, but it was always a likely proposition for James to overtake Jenkins. The No. 17 overall pick started Saturday's preseason loss to the Saints, coming away with three tackles (two solo) an an interception on 37 defensive snaps. James is a fantastic prospect in real-life terms, but Addae is the safer bet for IDP purposes, as he'll likely spend more time near the line of scrimmage.

James has been working with the starters, rotating between both safety spots, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After being sidelined with a hamstring injury to begin training camp, James appears to be accumulating nicely in the secondary, rotating with nominal starting strong safety Jahleel Addae in an effort to give both players additional reps at each position. While Rayshawn Jenkins remains in contention for a major role, it would be a surprise if the 2018 first-round pick wasn't operating as the starting FS or SS by Week 1.

The Chargers activated James (hamstring) from the Non-Football Injury list Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Selected 17th overall by the Chargers in this year's draft, James was delayed in making his first training camp foray due to a slight hamstring injury. With the concern behind him, he can focus on locking down the starting free safety job within a productive secondary.

James (hamstring) is nearing a return to practice according to Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn, Jack Wang of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
James has yet to participate in training camp as he nurses a minor hamstring injury, while the Chargers have proceeded cautiously in order to avoid any setbacks. The 2018 first-rounder could return to practice within the next week, as he'll be cleared to come off the NFI list at that point.

James is dealing with a minor hamstring issue, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Florida State product opened training camp on the Non-Football Injury list but it appears he's nursing a small hamstring injury. Los Angeles doesn't seem all to concerned regarding James' availability for the regular season. Barring any setbacks, James should be ready for Week 1.

James has been placed on the Non-Football Injury list due to an undisclosed injury, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
James, the first-round pick of the Chargers in this year's draft and a projected starter, will have to wait a bit for beginning his first NFL training camp. It's unclear what injury is plaguing the talented rookie or how severe it is, but the team hasn't expressed concerned about his health. Look for Adrian Phillips or Rayshawn Jenkins to get some extra reps while James is out.

James is expected to start at free safety according to ESPN's Eric D. Williams.
EDGE Analysis
It's not exactly a surprise to see James already heralded as the expected starter given the Chargers spent a first-round pick on the Florida State product. Considering the team opted not to re-sign Tre Boston, it would make that James takes over the No. 1 role at free safety alongside starting strong safety Jahleel Addae. IAll that being said, i'll be interesting to see whether the Chargers consider James more of in-box safety as opposed to a strictly coverage player. If the 21-year-old does play close to the line of scrimmage, as defensive coordinator Gus Bradley has already hinted at, it's not unreasonable to assume James could become one of the better safety options in IDP leagues.
