James finished his rookie season with 105 tackles (75 solo), three sacks and three interceptions, not including 14 tackles (10 solo) during the playoffs.
EDGE Analysis
If not for marvelous rookie performances by the Colts' Darius Leonard and the Cowboys' Leighton Vander Esch, James would almost be guaranteed the Defensive Rookie of the Year award, transforming a fearsome Chargers defense into a turnover machine. The All-Pro safety could still very easily win the award, as he was one of only four secondary players to record 100-plus tackles and three or more interceptions this season. James is likely to be one of the premiere IDP options at safety next season, and given his role is expected to expand in Year 2, there's reason to believe the versatile safety could be one of the best defensive fantasy players overall.

James finished Sunday's 26-21 win over the Bengals with seven tackles (six solo).
EDGE Analysis
Despite finishing with seven tackles, Sunday marked just the fifth time all season the rookie season didn't record either an interception or a sack. James has been an impressive playmaker for the Chargers this season and remains one of the best IDP options available each and every week.

James secured three tackles (two solo), three passes defended and an interception in the win Sunday over the Steelers.
EDGE Analysis
It's hard to argue against James' case for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award, as the safety intercepted another pass Sunday to bring his total to three. Well on his way to 100-plus tackles, James is as sure of an IDP option as it gets and should be poised for another strong outing against the Jeff Driskel-led Bengals next week.

James recorded seven tackles (five solo), one interception and two passes defended in Sunday's 45-10 win over the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Even with the return of Joey Bosa (foot), James was still the Chargers' primary playmaker on defense, recording his second interception of his young career. James has at least one interception or sack in six games this season and he could very well lead the team in tackles by the end of his first campaign.

James recorded nine tackles and one pass breakup during Sunday's victory over Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
James wasn't able to log a sack, but on one play he pancaked Raiders running back Jalen Richard in a way that made quarterback Derek Carr back fall into the arms of Chargers defensive end Isaac Rochell. All in all, James has averaged over seven tackles per game this season and, given his potential to fill the stat sheet, should continue to be viewed as a blue-chip IDP asset.

James recorded 11 tackles (four solo) during the 25-17 win over the Seahawks on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
James didn't really stuff the stat sheet, but he did tie for the team-lead in tackles with Jatavis Brown. The rookie safety has been impressive thus far and should be set for another prime matchup against the Raiders next week.

James recorded eight tackles (five solo) in Sunday's 20-19 win over the Titans.
EDGE Analysis
James tied for the team-lead in tackles with Denzel Perryman, but the latter arguably came up with the game's second biggest play as the linebacker scored a red zone interception just before halftime, halting any chance at the Titans stealing away momentum. With Joey Bosa (foot) nearing a return following the team's Week 8 bye, James could be in position to capitalize on what figures to be an increase in turnovers to go along with his already healthy amount of tackles in his rookie campaign.

James registered five tackles (four solo) and a half sack in Sunday's 38-14 demolition of the Browns.
EDGE Analysis
It's difficult to understate James' role on the defense, as the rookie safety has already developed into arguably the team's top playmaker on the other side of the ball. Through six games, James has secured 36 tackles, 3.5 sacks, six passes defended and recorded an interception and remains one of the better IDP options around, particularly in leagues that award additional points for sacks or turnovers.

James accumulated five tackles (four solo) and one tackle for a loss in Sunday's 26-10 win over the Raiders.
EDGE Analysis
It was a muted performance for James based on the lofty standards he set in the previous four weeks, as the rookie safety failed to record a turnover or sack for the first time this season. Given his playmaking tendencies, James is one of the better IDP options out there at the moment, and he should have plenty of opportunities to pick on fellow rookie, Baker Mayfield, when the Chargers travel to FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland for Week 6.

James recorded seven tackles (five solo), two passes defended and one sack in Sunday's 29-27 win over the 49ers.
EDGE Analysis
James proved again Sunday why he is worthy of a first-round draft selection, making his presence felt in the passing game while causing a 10 yard loss on his lone sack. The rookie safety has tremendous game speed, and his play-making ability has made itself apparent throughout the first four weeks of the season. James has a divisional matchup against the Raiders in Week 5.
