Samuel wasn't traded during the 2024 NFL Draft and now seems likely to stay with the 49ers for at least one more season, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 49ers selected receivers in the first round (Ricky Pearsall) and fourth round (Jacob Cowing), and while they reportedly fielded trade offers for both Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, nothing ever came to fruition. The receiver group now appears likely to undergo significant changes next offseason, at which point Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings are scheduled for unrestricted free agency and Samuel will have just one year remaining on his contract (with no guaranteed money). A contract extension for Aiyuk in the coming weeks or months would further increase speculation about Samuel eventually being the odd man out.

The Patriots and Bills have interest in trading for Samuel, Michael Giardi of Boston Sports Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
There's been a lot of trade chatter around Samuel's teammate, Brandon Aiyuk, but Giardi reports Samuel is "more likely to be traded" and has a couple interested suitors in Buffalo and New England. Both offenses are in dire need of wideout help, and the Bills (33rd overall) and Patriots (34th) hold picks atop the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday night. Samuel has two years left on his contract but has been more prone to injuries throughout his career, missing six regular-season games and parts of several others across the last two seasons. Aiyuk, meanwhile, is coming off a career year and a second consecutive 1,000-yard receiving season. The Niners used their first-round pick Thursday night on Florida WR Ricky Pearsall, further fueling trade chatter on the team's veteran wideouts.

Samuel (hamstring) finished with three receptions (11 targets) for 33 yards while rushing three times for eight yards in Sunday's 25-22 overtime loss to the Chiefs.
EDGE Analysis
Samuel went down clutching his hamstring early in the second half and had to miss roughly five minutes of game time while being examined on the sidelines. The physical wideout eventually returned and got involved on a couple of short gains in the fourth quarter to help San Francisco keep its Lombardi hopes alive. Deebo's heroic effort was still not enough to topple the reigning champs after the 49ers fell to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl for the second time in five years. The 27-year-old produced strong results from a fantasy standpoint in 2023, scoring 12 total touchdowns while going over 1,000 all-purpose yards for the second time as a pro. Samuel will have to lick his wounds this offseason before running it back with San Francisco for the second year of a three-year, $71.5 million contract extension both sides signed in 2022.

Samuel (hamstring) returned to Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Samuel went down with a non-contact injury midway through the third quarter but wasn't forced to miss any time. He'll return to his typical role in the 49ers' offense.

Samuel is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Chiefs due to a hamstring injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Samuel pulled up in the middle of a route in the third quarter and received attention from the trainers on the field. He was able to walk to the sideline without assistance and has since been examined in the blue tent. His absence would be a big blow to the San Francisco offense, with Jauan Jennings likely to be asked to step up in Samuel's absence.

Samuel (shoulder) corralled eight of nine targets for 89 yards and rushed three times for seven yards in Sunday's 34-31 win over the Lions in the NFC Championship Game.
EDGE Analysis
Samuel looked like his usual self on the field after being knocked out of last week's divisional-round win early with a shoulder injury. The versatile playmaker didn't experience much success out of the backfield, but he led the 49ers in receiving en route to victory. Now healthy, Samuel figures to be one of several featured weapons San Francisco throws at Kansas City's tough defense in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, Feb. 11.

Samuel (shoulder) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Lions after practicing fully Friday.
EDGE Analysis
After being deemed a non-participant in Wednesday's practice, Samuel was limited Thursday and closed out the week with a full session Friday, which sets the stage for the playmaking pass catcher to be available versus the Lions. Samuel sustained a left shoulder injury during Saturday's 24-21 divisional-round win over the Packers, but the issue won't impact his availability versus Detroit. Assuming no in-game setbacks, he'll continue to maintain his key role in the 49ers offense opposite fellow starting wideout Brandon Aiyuk.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Samuel (shoulder) will be limited at Thursday's practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
In the wake of Samuel missing the second half of the 49ers' divisional-round win against the Packers due to a left shoulder injury, it was revealed that he didn't suffer a fracture but was in a lot of discomfort, leaving him a 50-50 proposition for the NFC Championship Game. While he was listed as a non-participant for Wednesday's walkthrough, he was able to work on the side and even managed at least one full-speed sprint during the part of the session open to the media, per Matt Barrows of The Athletic. Samuel is taking another step in the right direction Thursday, but even if he progresses to full by Friday, he seems destined to enter the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest against the Lions.

Samuel (shoulder), who officially was a non-participant at Wednesday's walkthrough, was seen working on the side and even did full-speed sprints during the portion of the session open to the media, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to the 49ers taking the practice field, coach Kyle Shanahan told David Lombardi of The Athletic that Samuel wouldn't take part Wednesday, but the wide receiver was "feeling better" after making an early exit from the 49ers' divisional-round win against the Packers due to a left shoulder injury. Samuel still has two more chances to mix into drills this week, including Thursday's more normal practice. WRs Jauan Jennings (5-61-0 on six targets), Chris Conley (1-17-0 on one target) and Ray-Ray McCloud (1-7-0 on two targets) stepped up alongside Brandon Aiyuk with Samuel on the sideline after halftime Saturday.

Samuel (shoulder) won't participate in Wednesday's walkthrough, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Samuel hurt his left shoulder on the opening drive of Saturday's 24-21 win over Green Bay and ended up playing three snaps in the first quarter, six in the second quarter and none after halftime. His absence Wednesday isn't the best sign, but the more important factor will be his participation, or lack thereof, Thursday, when the Niners hold a more intense practice rather than a walkthrough. No. 3 receiver Jauan Jennings stepped up big in Samuel's absence Saturday, playing 65 percent of snaps in the second half en route to a 5-61-1 line on six targets. Chris Conley also played more, taking 51 percent of snaps post-halftime while catching his lone target for 17 yards.
