Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Renee Korn has again refused to release ex-NFL S Darren Sharper from jail. Sharper is awaiting trial in L.A. after pleading not guilty to charges that he raped and drugged two women last year. His lawyers feel he should be released and placed under house arrest until he goes to trial. An April 15 hearing has been set. As we've mentioned numerous times, Sharper has sexual assault investigations pending in California, Arizona, Florida, Nevada, and Louisiana.

Former Saints safety and five-time Pro Bowl selection Darren Sharper plans to retire. Just about to turn 36 in November, Sharper got a workout with the Broncos in September but there wasn't much interest in him around the league. A member of the NFL's All-Decade team for the 2000s, it is likely that he follows through on his plan to retire.

The Broncos will try out free agent S Darren Sharper on Tuesday. This is our first Sharper post since August 27. The Broncos don't need safety help, so they might be doing Sharper's agent a favor. Sharper has little left in the tank after struggling in eight games last year. He turns 36 in November.

According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, "don't expect the Saints to bring back (free agent) Darren Sharper." The Times-Picayune's Mike Triplett believes Jonathon Amaya has locked down the Saints' No. 3 safety job behind Roman Harper and Malcolm Jenkins. Sharper has reportedly been staying in shape, and is still hopeful of playing in what would be his 15th NFL season.

The Patriots are scheduled to work out free agent safeties Darren Sharper and Renaldo Hill. The Pats are bit thinner at safety than they'd like to be after losing Jarrad Page to Philly and cutting Brandon McGowan. They're continuing their due diligence since bringing in Dashon Goldson a week ago. Now 35 and coming off an injury-plagued season, Sharper's market never developed.
