Lansanah will be non-tendered by the Buccaneers and will become a free agent next week, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lansanah could be re-signed by the Buccaneers after he becomes a free agent, but it looks like Bruce Carter will be given every chance to move back into his starting linebacker role. Lansanah recored one sack and 36 tackles in 16 games this season.

Lansanah totaled eight tackles (three solo), including one for loss, and a pass defensed in Thursday's 31-23 loss to the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
Lansanah drew the start in the middle in place of Bruce Carter (foot/ankle) and acquitted himself well in the run game. Tampa managed to limit Todd Gurley to 48 yards on 21 carries, and the Rams' ground game to 3.0 yards per carry overall. The 30-year-old has prior experience at the Mike spot, having started three games there in 2014 and tallying a pair of pick-sixes among his three interceptions at the position. If Carter is healthy enough to return to the field against the Bears in Week 16, Lansanah would likely revert to his customary strongside linebacker role.

Lansanah shifted over to weakside linebacker in place of the injured Lavonte David (ankle) during Thursday's practice, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lansanah's shift in Thursday's session seems to be solely due to the musical chairs that were necessitated by David's absence. Judging by Wednesday's session, it appears that the 30-year-old was the Bucs' first choice to replace the suspended Kwon Alexander in the middle. However, that plan may obviously be altered if David is unable to take the field against the Falcons. Bruce Carter (concussion) took all the reps at the Mike on Wednesday, and Friday's practice participation report could provide further insight into what role Lansanah may slot into in Week 14.

Lansanah worked as the first-team middle linebacker during Wednesday's practice, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old interestingly received first crack at reps at the Mike in the wake of Kwon Alexander's suspension, with Bruce Carter (concussion) manning the strong-side spot in Wednesday's session. Lansanah has amassed 41 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a pair of passes defensed over 263 defensive snaps. Thursday's practice report should yield further insight into whether he's likely to start in the middle versus the Falcons in Week 14.

Lansanah (ankle) is active Sunday against the Saints Greg Auman of the Tampa Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lansanah is the starting weak-side linebacker for the Bucs, and will be needed to help slow down the high-flying Saints in this road game.

Lansanah (ankle) was a full participant in Friday's practice, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was an upgrade from yesterday's limited status and further opens the door for Lansanah to be on the field against the Saints on Sunday. The 30-year-old will be replaced by Bruce Carter at his strong-side spot if he experiences any regression with his ankle between now and game time in Week 2.

Lansanah (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Though he has a starting job, Lansanah won't be an every-down player, with Lavonte David and Kwon Alexander operating as Tampa Bay's linebackers in the nickel. If Lansanah doesn't play Sunday, either Bruce Carter (ribs) or Jeremiah George will likely get the start.

Lansanah (ankle) was upgraded to limited participation in Thursday's practice, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lansanah had racked up a team-high five stops against the Titans in the opener before the injury, and is being counted as a key component of Lovie Smith's defense at strong-side linebacker. With Bruce Carter also exiting Sunday's game after taking a helmet to the ribs on the opening kickoff, the Bucs currently find themselves thin at the position. Although Carter is listed as probable for Sunday, the team would ideally like to see Lansanah, who wrested the starting job from him late in the preseason, take the field in Week 2 against the Saints.

The Buccaneers re-signed Lansanah on Thursday, Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune reports. As an exclusive-rights free agent, the 29-year-old Lansanah was always a sure thing to return to Tampa Bay. The former 2008 UDFA had a surprising breakout season in 2014, making the most of his first extended action in the NFL. He figures to start in 2015, but there's some chance he won't be an every-down player, as the Bucs may retain impending free agent Mason Foster. Of course, even if Foster returns, there's some chance the Bucs will use Lansanah next to Lavonte David in their nickel defense.

The Bucs have tendered Lansanah an exclusive-rights free agent contract, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports. With the 29-year-old Lansanah coming off a breakout season, this was a non-decision for the Bucs. A 2008 UDFA, Lansanah bounced around the league for quite some time, before finally getting his big break in 2014. He's one of the better stories in the NFL, and while he'll almost certainly start in 2015, he won't necessarily have a three-down role. Lavonte David is locked in as an every-snap superstar, and the Bucs may end up retaining starting middle linebacker Mason Foster, who can soon become an unrestricted free agent.
