ESPN Rams reporter Nick Wagoner considers CB Cortland Finnegan, C Scott Wells, and RG Harvey Dahl St. Louis' likeliest three offseason release candidates. The Rams currently aren't working with much cap room, but could clear $13-15 million by making these three moves. Of course, cutting both Dahl and Wells would create five question marks on the O-Line, with no starting-caliber player at left guard, LT Jake Long coming off ACL surgery, and RT Rodger Saffold a free agent. Cutting Finnegan would save $4 million in cap space.

The guaranteed money on the five-year, $50 million contract Cortland Finnegan signed in 2012 with St. Louis has run out. Finnegan is now owed a $6 million base salary and $3 million roster bonus in 2014, and we'd be stunned if he got either. When Finnegan wasn't battling injuries this season, he was getting torched relentlessly in coverage, as if he'd suddenly lost several steps. Perhaps longtime coach Jeff Fisher would be willing to bring back Finnegan at a severely reduced rate. The Rams could save $7 million in cap space by releasing Finnegan outright.

The Rams could save $7 million in 2014 by releasing CB Cortland Finnegan outright after this season. Finnegan, who landed on IR last week due to a fractured orbital bone, was signed to a five-year, $50 million contract last March. He was ProFootballFocus' No. 86 corner in 2012 and dead last (110th) this season. Finnegan's leadership abilities won't save him even though he's still only 29 years old.

Rams placed CB Cortland Finnegan (eye) on injured reserve, ending his season. The full details of Finnegan's eye injury aren't yet available, but he was listed as doubtful for Week 12 and will now be shut down for the season. It's not a huge loss for the Rams, as Finnegan had been one of the least effective corners in the NFL this year and was limited to strictly nickel duties when healthy. Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson will remain the starting corners. Rookie safety T.J. McDonald has been activated from short-term I.R. to replace Finnegan on the active roster.

Cortland Finnegan (thigh) is active for Monday night's game versus Seattle. Finnegan was listed as questionable on the injury report after missing the last three games. He's looked over the hill this season. Finnegan will likely be limited strictly to nickel duties in his return. Trumaine Johnson and Janoris Jenkins are locked in as the Rams' outside corners.

Rams CB Cortland Finnegan (thigh) did not participate in Saturday's practice and is questionable for Week 8 against the Seahawks. Finnegan was held out for precautionary reasons after practicing on a limited basis this week. He'll be a game-time decision for Monday Night Football. Also questionable for the Rams are RB Benny Cunningham (ankle) and C Scott Wells (thigh). Cunningham has still yet to resume practicing and is targeting a Week 9 return.

Rams declared CB Cortland Finnegan (thigh) inactive for Sunday's Week 5 game against the Jaguars. As expected, Trumaine Johnson will get another start. If Blaine Gabbert weren't starting, it would be an excellent spot for Justin Blackmon to make his return. The Rams didn't have any surprises in the rest of their inactives: RT Rodger Saffold (knee), DE Will Hayes (knee), DT Matt Conrath (concussion), OL Barrett Jones, OL Brandon Washington and OL Mike Person.

Rams CB Cortland Finnegan (thigh) is listed as doubtful for Week 5 against the Jaguars. Finnegan has looked so washed up in 2013 that his inactivity may be a positive for St. Louis' secondary. Finnegan suffered the injury two Thursdays ago.

Rams CB Cortland Finnegan exited Thursday night's Week 4 game against the 49ers with a thigh injury and is questionable to return. Finnegan suffered the injury after giving up a 20-yard touchdown pass to Anquan Boldin in the second quarter. Trumaine Johnson will replace him at cornerback opposite Janoris Jenkins.

Rams CB Cortland Finnegan only played in nickel situations Sunday due to a thigh injury. Finnegan didn't practice at all last week, so rookies Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson were the base corners. The Rams proceeded to go into Tampa and hold the Bucs to 13 points while picking off Josh Freeman four times.
