Lyerla reached an injury settlement with the Packers Tuesday and has been waived off injured reserve, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Lyerla time with the Packers ended with him tearing the MCL and PCL in his right knee during practice on Aug. 2. He will be eligible to return to the Packers in Week 14 if they decide to bring him back, but he will also be able to sign to the practice squad or roster of other teams after the settlement is up after Week 8.

Lyerla (knee) has been waived/injured by the Packers, Jason Wilde of ESPN Wisconsin reports. Full details of Lyerla's injury have not been released, but unless he is claimed off waivers, he will be placed on injured reserve by the Packers and miss the entire season. A year of experience in the Packers' offense could give Lyerla a chance to make an impact for the team in his second season.

Packers undrafted rookie TE Colt Lyerla was relegated to the scout team on the third day of training camp. Lyerla is at the bottom of the depth chart in a group that includes seven tight ends. The good news for Lyerla is that the tight end spot in Green Bay is the most wide-open position on the team. Lyerla has all the measurables and talent to make a quick climb once the pads come on and preseason games get under way. It's a reminder that Lyerla is a classic boom-or-bust prospect.

Packers undrafted rookie TE Colt Lyerla's ex-teammate from Oregon and current Eagles WR Josh Huff believes Lyerla can be better than Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski. The praise doesn't stop with Huff. "Just a monster," Oregon CB Terrance Mitchell said of Lyerla. "Colt is a beast. I don't know how to explain it. A monster, a beast....He could be anything he wants to be." Lyerla went undrafted after a tumultuous college career that saw him quit the team four games into last season. He then got into drugs and was arrested for cocaine possession. The Packers took a chance on the ultra-talented Lyerla. At 6'3/242, he runs a 4.61 forty and posted a 39-inch vertical. Lyerla could make a year-one impact at an unsettled position in Green Bay. He needs to be owned in all Dynasty formats.
