Conte posted nine tackles (eight solo) and a pass defensed in Sunday's 22-19 loss to the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran safety enjoyed a productive outing from an IDP standpoint for the third consecutive week, with his tackle total equaling a season high. Conte has posted between six and nine stops in his last three games, his best multi-game stretch of the campaign. His hold on the starting strong safety job makes him an appealing fantasy option in Week 17 against a Saints team that places a lot more emphasis on the run than in previous seasons.

Conte forced his third fumble of the season in Monday's 24-21 loss to the Falcons.
EDGE Analysis
Conte also recorded seven tackles (five solo) and a season-high two passes defended in the contest. He saw 56 defensive snaps (79.0 percent), which was the fifth highest on the team. With Justin Evans (ankle) and T.J. Ward (concussion) both dealing with injuries heading into Week 16, Conte could continue seeing a healthy workload.

Conte posted nine tackles (eight solo) and recorded his first interception of 2017 in Sunday's 17-3 loss to the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
Conte was highly active on an afternoon when the Panthers logged 31 total rushes. Not only was his tackle total a season high, but the veteran safety also snagged his first interception of the season when he picked off a Cam Newton pass intended for Ed Dickson at the Buccaneers' 48-yard line on the opening possession of the second half. Conte is on pace for what would be a career-best 91 tackles, but he's also part of a secondary that's allowing an NFC-high 274.7 passing yards per game.

Conte totaled seven tackles (six solo) and a pass defensed in Sunday's 29-7 win over the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
Conte got his season off to a prolific start tackle-wise after having racked up 69 stops in 2016. The veteran safety is projected to see plenty of opportunities to rack up some solid IDP numbers again in the coming season while attempt to hold off the likes of rookie Justin Evans and fellow vet J.J. Wilcox for a starting role.

Conte has logged eight tackles (five solo) over the Bucs' first three preseason games.
EDGE Analysis
The projected starting strong safety has enjoyed a productive exhibition slate, and, after logging 45 snaps in last Saturday's loss to Cleveland, is likely to take a seat for Thursday's exhibition finale versus the Redskins. Conte returned to the Bucs on a two-year, $5 million contract this past offseason after logging 148 tackles (118 solo) over 28 contests in his first pair of campaigns in Tampa. Despite the fact that the team also brought in J.J. Wilcox in free agency-- a fifth-year pro who has plenty of starting experience from his Cowboys tenure -- Conte has been able to hold off his challenge thus far and looks set to start in Week 1 against the Dolphins.

Conte signed a two-year contract with Tampa Bay on Thursday, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Conte has been the Buccaneers' starting safety for the past two seasons, and he likely will be once again in 2017. He had 69 tackles and five passes defensed, including two interceptions and one touchdown while playing in 14 games in 2016.

Conte, who posted 69 tackles and two interceptions in 2016, is a potential candidate to re-sign with the Bucs, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Bucs have expressed an interest in having the unrestricted free agent return, but they may wait to see what plays out with their attempts to bring fellow safety Bradley McDougald back to the fold first. Conte notched the first pick-six of his career last season and has been reasonably effective against both the run and pass through his two-year Tampa tenure, racking up a combined 148 stops (118 solo), 11 passes defensed, four interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery over 28 games.

Conte finished the 2016 season with 69 tackles (59 solo), including one for loss, two interceptions (including one pick-six), five passes defensed overall and one fumble recovery over 14 games.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran safety enjoyed another statistically successful season in 2016, posting the third-highest tackle total of his career, equaling his second-highest number of interceptions, and tallying his first pick-six, which came against his old Bears teammates. Conte also tallied at least seven tackles in six of the 14 games he was active for, including a season-high 11 against the Falcons in the season opener. A chest injury did cost Conte two games, but he otherwise made a strong case for either returning to the Bucs or latching on with a safety-needy team as he heads into unrestricted free agency this offseason. With last season's starting strong safety Bradley McDougald also without a 2017 contract, the Bucs may look to retain at least one of last season's starting safeties.
