Conte has logged eight tackles (five solo) over the Bucs' first three preseason games.
EDGE Analysis
The projected starting strong safety has enjoyed a productive exhibition slate, and, after logging 45 snaps in last Saturday's loss to Cleveland, is likely to take a seat for Thursday's exhibition finale versus the Redskins. Conte returned to the Bucs on a two-year, $5 million contract this past offseason after logging 148 tackles (118 solo) over 28 contests in his first pair of campaigns in Tampa. Despite the fact that the team also brought in J.J. Wilcox in free agency-- a fifth-year pro who has plenty of starting experience from his Cowboys tenure -- Conte has been able to hold off his challenge thus far and looks set to start in Week 1 against the Dolphins.
