Young (knee) is on the PUP list for the start of training camp, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft suffered an ACL tear in mid-November of a disappointing second season. He still has a shot to be ready for Week 1, though this isn't the best start. Young was named Defensive Rookie of the Year after his initial season, leading one of the best defenses in the league. Washington slipped to a bottom-five unit last year, struggling even before Young tore his knee.

Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said Wednesday that Young (knee) will "more than likely" begin training camp on the PUP list, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 2020 first-round pick suffered a right ACL tear during Week 10 last year, and by all accounts remains on track in his rehab. There was initial optimism that he'd possibly be available for Week 1, but it also appears Washington will be cautious with its star defender in an effort to avoid any potential setbacks this offseason. Young has nine career sacks across 24 appearances, and when healthy, he and fellow first-round pick Montez Sweat form one of best passing rushing duos in the NFL.

Young (knee) was spotted without a knee brace during OTAs on Wednesday, but he did not participate in on-field drills, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though Young made his way onto the practice field during 11-on-11 drills after shedding his knee brace, per Pete Hailey of NBC Sports Washington, it looks like he still hasn't been cleared to actually handle team reps. The 2020 first-round pick is working his way back from a torn right ACL suffered Week 10, and by all accounts he remains right on track in his rehab. Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports that coach Ron Rivera declined Wednesday to offer a specific timetable for Young's return to practice, but it sounds like there's some reason to be optimistic about the pass rusher's chances of taking the field Week 1.
