Edmonds had a five-yard carry during Sunday's 27-27 tie with Detroit. He was targeted once, but was unable to make the catch.
EDGE Analysis
One carry and one target is not a great start and the timing of both paint an even less rosy picture. Edmonds' lone target came on a short pass facing third and long late in the second quarter. His lone carry was on the final play of the first half, allowing the clock to run out. Edmonds didn't get a lot of work as David Johnson's backup in 2018 and now the Cardinals are running their offense with more four-receiver sets and a quarterback who is himself a threat to run the ball. Edmonds is unlikely to get enough touches on any given week to be a fantasy factor.

Edmonds had two catches for 31 yards during Thursday's preseason loss to the Raiders.
EDGE Analysis
Working with the second-team offense yet again, Edmonds hauled in those passes from backup QB Brett Hundley, both of them for first-down gains. Meanwhile, Edmonds' sole carry was negated by a penalty. With David Johnson scooping up the vast majority of backfield reps, Edmonds will have a difficult time being a regular meaningful contributor, but the coaching staff is making a concerted effort to ensure he'll get reps weekly during the regular season. At the very least, Edmonds' ability as a pass catcher will help him spell Johnson on occasion.

Edmonds rushed twice for four yards in the Cardinals' 17-13 preseason win over the Chargers on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Despite the fact he'd been working with the first team the majority of training camp thus far, Edmonds saw minimal action Thursday. The 2018 fourth-round pick came in on the Cardinals' second series after David Johnson started the contest, but he was unable to find much running room on his pair of carries. Edmonds enjoyed a fairly solid rookie season considering the sub-par offensive cast around him, as he garnered 311 total yards from scrimmage on 80 total touches. He'll likely see a boost in carries during the Cardinals' second preseason game against the Raiders next Thursday.

Edmonds has worked with the first-team offense during the first 10 days of training camp, Scott Bordow of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Edmonds wasn't put in a position to succeed as a rookie, working behind David Johnson in an inert offensive scheme. The results were underwhelming (five touches per game) but encouraging (87 percent catch rate) at the same time. During his first full offseason as a pro, the 2018 fourth-round pick has operated in two-back sets alongside Johnson and also lined up as the sole RB when Johnson moved to outside receiver. There's no telling if Edmonds will experience an uptick in his offensive snap share (21 percent) from a season ago, but it's encouraging to say the least that coach Kliff Kingsbury is seeking out ways to get the all-time FCS touchdown leader on the field more often.

Edmonds is confident he'll have a regular role in the Cardinals offense in his second season, Kyle Odegard of the team's official site reports. "Me and Dave are definitely pushing for (two-back looks)," Edmonds said during OTAs. "It opens up his dynamic ability and mine as well. Whether it's two-back sets or Dave in the slot, me in the slot, it doesn't really matter."
EDGE Analysis
Edmonds is referencing backfield mate and 2016 All-Pro David Johnson, who has averaged 94.5 yards from scrimmage per game and scored 42 offensive touchdowns in 49 regular-season appearances. Clearly a bell cow, Johnson's noted ability as a receiver allows him to line up just about anywhere in the formation, whether its out of the backfield, in the slot or outside. This versatility should give Edmonds, a 2018 fourth-round pick, more chances to get on the field this fall. In a dreadful offense last season, he managed 311 scrimmage yards and two TDs on 80 touches, numbers that should increase with a corresponding boost in offensive snaps within new coach Kliff Kingbury's scheme.

Edmonds recorded 60 carries for 208 yards and two touchdowns while hauling in 20 of his 23 targets for 103 yards in 16 games during the 2018 campaign.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals already had an established lead back (David Johnson) prior to the 2018 draft, but it didn't stop general manager Steve Keim from selecting Edmonds in the fourth round, 134th overall. Outside of a two-TD performance in a Week 13 upset at Green Bay, Edmonds was unable to make much of a dent in Johnson's workload. A stagnant offensive scheme partly was to blame, but Edmonds earned double-digit touches just once as a rookie (Week 15 in Atlanta). With Johnson locked into a lucrative extension through the 2021 season, Edmonds likely will need an injury from the Pro Bowler to make much of an impact during his first NFL contract. On the other hand, Arizona's lack of backfield talent (just 2017 fifth-rounder T.J. Logan) makes Edmonds the top candidate to fill in for Johnson in that scenario.

Edmonds ran for 20 yards on four carries and added a one-yard reception during Sunday's 31-9 loss to the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
Edmonds has now recorded at least five touches in five of his last six games, averaging a respectable 4.2 yards per carry during that span. A two-touchdown explosion in Week 13 aside, the rookie has been quiet for much of the season -- a product of playing on a woeful offense behind a quality do-it-all back in David Johnson. The season ends Sunday against a Seattle defense that held Edmonds to one yard on three carries in a Week 4 loss.

Edmonds ran for 22 yards on eight carries and added 22 yards on two catches during Sunday's 40-14 loss to Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Week 13's two-touchdown game in which Arizona shocked Green Bay appears to have been a blip as Arizona has struggled mightily over the past two weeks with Edmonds not providing much production. The rookie back did manage to record double-digit touches for the first time this season, but four of those came in the fourth quarter with the Cardinals down by multiple scores. Maybe, with the season and -- potentially -- this regime on its last legs, Arizona will try to get a better look at what it has in Edmonds. If that ends up being the case, there might be no better opponent than the Rams, who come to town next Sunday ranked dead last in the league with 5.1 yards per opponent rush.

Edmonds had three carries for 14 yards and returned one kickoff for 17 yards during Sunday's 17-3 defeat to the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
Acting as the clear No. 2 running back behind David Johnson, Edmonds has been afforded a shade over five touches per game this season. However, outside of a Week 13 outburst in which he totaled 66 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns, Edmonds has averaged a dismal 2.7 YPC with no end-zone visits. In reality, the aforementioned outing was an aberration, meaning anyone who took a chance on the rookie should get used to performances like Sunday's.

Edmonds rushed five times for 53 yards and two touchdowns while hauling in both of his targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Packers.
EDGE Analysis
Edwards only got five carries to David Johnson's 20, but the rookie was the one to score both of Arizona's touchdowns, much to the chagrin of the embattled early pick's owners. In addition to his six-yard score in the second quarter and eight-yard touchdown in the third, Edwards also reeled off a 29-yard run. Johnson is still Arizona's primary running back -- as evidenced by the workload distribution -- but Edmonds may have earned himself a few more carries in Week 14 against the Lions and beyond.
