Dating back to Week 14, Edmonds has recorded at least four rush attempts in four of six contests, but his pass-catching work remains extremely modest with the exception of a five-reception tally against the Saints in Week 17. As long as White is healthy in front of him, Edmonds figures in for single-digit touches again in Sunday's divisional-round road matchup versus the Lions.

Edmonds gained 21 of his yards on one carry, leading to his second-highest rushing yardage total of the season. The veteran back had a slightly smaller role than he likely envisioned when he signed to the Buccaneers this past offseason, finishing the 2023 campaign with 49 carries for 176 yards and a 14-81 line through the air across 13 games. However, Edmonds did have eight- and 10-carry tallies within the final five games of the season, and he should continue operating as the primary backup to Rachaad White during the postseason, albeit likely in the same low-volume role.

Edmonds rushed three times for 16 yards and brought in five of six targets for 40 yards in the Buccaneers' 23-13 loss to the Saints on Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

One week after recording a season-high 10 carries, Edmonds produced new 2023 high-water marks in receptions, receiving yards and targets. Game script helped lead to Edmonds' expanded opportunity, however, and it's possible the same scenario isn't replicated in Week 18 against the lowly Panthers in what is a must-win game for the Buccaneers.

The sixth-year veteran's usage shot back up Sunday after he'd followed a 10-touch tally in Week 14 with just three carries against the Packers in Week 15. Edmonds' carry total Sunday was a season high and qualified as his most usage on the ground since Week 1 of last season in his Dolphins debut. The encouraging increase in involvement does come with a caveat, however, as it appeared to be largely the byproduct of an extremely positive second-half game script for the Buccaneers' running game.

Edmonds carried three times for 13 yards and did not see a target in the Buccaneers' 34-20 win over the Packers on Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

Edmonds' usage had spiked in Week 14, when the versatile veteran had logged 10 total touches in the high-scoring win over the Falcons. However, with Sunday's downturn, which included his first game without a target since Week 2, Edmonds' outlook is once again clouded and essentially makes him a fantasy non-factor for what remains of the season.

Edmonds rushed eight times for 40 yards and secured both targets for 18 yards in the Buccaneers' 29-25 win over the Falcons on Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

Edmonds' final numbers are likely indicative of the type of opportunity that many, including the running back himself, figured he'd see on a weekly basis once he was acclimated to the Buccaneers offense. Whether his season-high carry, rushing yardage and receiving yardage are the first sign of a growing role or simply an outlier remains to be seen, but Edmonds draws a friendly matchup on paper against the Packers in a Week 15 road matchup.
