Chad Ochocinco caught two passes for 45 yards in Sunday's win over the Chargers. Ochocinco was targeted only three times, good for fifth amongst the Patriots' pass catches for the second straight game. A player with Ochocinco's skill cannot be entirely written off after only two games, but the odds are looking slim that he develops into anything other than a WR 4/5 in his new home.

The Patriots coaches have "turned up the heat" on Chad Ochocinco to pick up the offense faster. Ochocinco's role -- or lack thereof -- has been thrust into the national spotlight thanks to Tedy Bruschi's inflammatory comments. Now everyone knows that Ocho is the fifth option in the passing game because he isn't grasping the Patriots' scheme. We're not expecting Ochocinco to be viable in fantasy anytime soon.

Patriots OC Bill O'Brien says Chad Ochocinco's playing time will change "week to week." "Every week it'll change," said O'Brien. "Chad has worked hard to improve every week." Ochocinco played just 18 of 80 snaps in the opener. He's clearly behind Deion Branch while getting up to speed in the offense and refining his chemistry with Tom Brady. Those snaps figure to increase depending on matchups, but Ochocinco is purely a roster stash in fantasy leagues.

Chad Ochocinco played on just 18 of the Patriots' 80 offensive snaps in Monday's win over the Dolphins. Chatter that Ochocinco wasn't comfortable in the Patriots' offense turned out to be true. As Tom Brady executed the hurry-up offense to perfection, Deion Branch played the vast majority of snaps (62) opposite Wes Welker. Ocho is a poor bet to have a real impact before the Patriots' Week 7 bye.

Chad Ochocinco caught just one pass for 14 yards in his Week 1 Patriots debut. Ocho made a nice grab diving near the sideline, but that was about it. He played just four snaps in the first half of the game, and saw only three total targets. He's no more than a glorified fifth option in the passing game on this team. While he has the potential to pass Deion Branch on that list, owners should try hard to trade him while they still can.

The Boston Globe's Greg Bedard suggests that Chad Ochocinco may not be the Patriots' No. 2 at the outset of the season. Ochocinco has had a poor preseason by all accounts. And in the last exhibition game, Wes Welker and Taylor Price were the receivers in two-wide sets. Bedard suggests that Ocho will need until the Week 7 bye to find his way in the Patriots' offense, just giving them bits and pieces until then. He's being severely overdrafted at his current fifth-round ADP.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft insists Chad Ochocinco and Albert Haynesworth are "a lot different" than they are portrayed by the media. "[Ochocinco is] very self-contained, he works very hard, [and] I know he wants to do well," said Kraft. "He and Brady seem to have a great rapport. Albert Haynesworth has been a gentleman." Despite speculation to the contrary, neither player is on the chopping block this week.

According to CSN New England's Tom Curran, Chad Ochocinco has "sucked" this preseason. Reminiscent of Joey Galloway's failed cameo, Ochocinco's transition to the Patriots' offense has been slow. We trust that Ocho won't "suck" all season long, but he's been overdrafted as a top-20 fantasy receiver with a 4.12 ADP. The Patriots simply have too weapons on offense, and Ochocinco isn't as dangerous as Aaron Hernandez or Rob Gronkowski.

Chad Ochocinco caught two passes for 14 yards and a touchdown against the Bucs in the Patriots' second preseason game. Ochocinco started opposite Wes Welker, with Deion Branch entering in three-wide sets. Ocho played 24 first-half snaps, only resting when the Pats went into run-heavy mode. He was lit up by Bucs MLB Mason Foster on a high ball, had timing issues with Tom Brady on a sideline pass, and reeled in an 8-yard score on a play-action pass. Ochocinco is back on the radar as a WR3 with upside in a high-scoring offense.

Chad Ochocinco has "had a bit of a rough time picking up the Patriots offense," according to the Boston Globe. The Pats' offense requires more ad-libbing between the receivers and QB than the Bengals' did. It's hardly a surprise that Ochocinco and Tom Brady aren't reading each other's minds just yet, but it would help if the two "start getting on the same page soon." We'll see if the connection tightens over the next three weeks.
