Free agent C Casey Wiegmann visited the Chiefs this week.
We suspected the Chiefs would take a look at the veteran. Wiegmman, 39, unofficially retired back in June, largely because the Chiefs were ready to move forward with Rodney Hudson. Now that Hudson is out for the season, it makes sense to revisit Wiegmann. For now, Ryan Lilja is manning center with Jeff Allen taking over at left guard.

Free agent C Casey Wiegmann is "likely" to retire, according to KCChiefs.com.
Wiegmman, working on a streak of 11,102 consecutive snaps, turns 39 years old in July. Last year's second-rounder, Rodney Hudson, spent the season in the locker next door, picking up tips from Wiegmann. Expected to man the pivot in 2012, Hudson should be an upgrade in the running game.

Chiefs agreed to terms with C Casey Wiegmann on a one-year contract.
Two other clubs showed interest, but Wiegmann was only going to play if the Chiefs wanted him back. His return should keep second-round pick Rodney Hudson, a college guard the club is converting to center, on the bench for his rookie season. Wiegmann stabilizes a Chiefs offensive line that returns all five starters. He's likely to man the pivot spot in Week 1.

The player rep for free agent C Casey Wiegmann says his client has decided to play another NFL season, as long as the Chiefs will have him back.
The agent says Wiegmann is in the "best shape of his career," and intends to play only in Kansas City. Coach Todd Haley has said he wants Wiegmann to return, but the Chiefs drafted Rodney Hudson in the second round and also have Brian Waters capable of playing center, if Jon Asamoah takes over as a starting guard. Wiegmann, 38, was Pro Football Focus' 15th-ranked center last year.
