Case Keenum lost an average of 10.58 yards on his 19 sacks this season, the highest for any quarterback with at least 200 passing attempts.
That's four yards more than the other 37 quarterbacks who attempted at least 200 passes averaged as a collective. The next highest was Matt McGloin, who lost an average of 8.83 yards on his six sacks. Keenum's staggeringly high number is indicative of a player who didn't know what to do in the face of pressure, and took sacks even after he scrambled to create time. Keenum has undeniable big-play ability, but lacks the overall polish to ever be more than a No. 2.

The Texans are leaving their Week 17 starting quarterback up to a game-time decision.
Houston is closing out the season against Tennessee. Case Keenum practiced on a limited basis Friday, but is listed as questionable with a thumb injury. "He was a little sore," interim coach Wade Phillips said of Keenum following Friday's practice. "He's going to be a gametime decision. We're going to wait and see how Case is. It could be a situation where he wouldn't be able to start but he'd be the backup." If Keenum doesn't get the nod, Matt Schaub will.

Case Keenum (thumb) threw the ball a "normal amount" in Thursday's practice, and will start Sunday's finale if healthy.
Barring a setback, Keenum should be under center against the Titans as he auditions to be Houston's No. 2 quarterback next season.

Case Keenum (thumb) remains day to day.
Interim coach Wade Phillips didn't sound terribly optimistic about Keenum's status at Monday's presser, going as far as to hint that T.J. Yates might get the start against Tennessee. We'll likely know Keenum's status by Wednesday, when the Texans return to practice.

Case Keenum (thumb) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 16 game against the Broncos.
Matt Schaub will get the start. Keenum sprained his right (throwing) thumb against the Colts last Sunday. He's been absolutely brutal since throwing seven touchdowns to zero interceptions over his first three starts. Keenum has an 0-8 record as a starter and hit "rock bottom" last week. Schaub could very well close out the season before getting the ax from the Texans in the offseason.

Case Keenum has been diagnosed with a sprained right (throwing) thumb, and is questionable for Week 16.
The Texans are awaiting MRI results. "He'll be evaluated, but it's a concern," were the words of interim coach Wade Phillips on Monday. Phillips also said that Keenum hit "rock bottom" in Sunday's ugly loss to the Colts, but implied he'll be under center for Week 16 if he can get medically cleared. The Texans don't need to see anymore from Matt Schaub, and have apparently determined T.J. Yates isn't worthy of another shot.

Case Keenum completed 18-of-34 passes for 168 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions in Houston's 25-3, Week 15 loss to the Colts.
Keenum was simply horrendous, taking four sacks, making late throws and generally appearing completely inept. A rash of drops from his receivers didn't help, but Keenum didn't have the looks of an NFL quarterback. Both of his interceptions were embarrassingly under-thrown, late passes he should never attempted. He was clearly baited into the second by the defense. Keenum will finish out the year under center in the interest of evaluation, but isn't looking like a realistic candidate for Houston's 2014 job. Keenum won't be a recommended QB2 for Week 16 against the Broncos.

Case Keenum is listed on the Week 15 injury report with a left (non-throwing) shoulder injury, but is practicing in full.
Keenum is good to go for Sunday's game against the Colts. Still struggling against the blitz and adjusting to life without play-caller Gary Kubiak, Keenum is a low-end QB2 for Week 15.

The Texans announced Case Keenum will start in Week 15 against the Colts.
Coach Gary Kubiak said after Thursday night's loss to the Jaguars that Matt Schaub was an "unbelievable pro" and would be considered for the starting job for the rest of the season. Kubiak was then fired Friday morning. The 2-11 Texans are in full-blown evaluation mode, and it makes no sense to give Schaub anymore starts. His time is likely done in Houston, as well. Keenum has struggled mightily in recent weeks. He won't be a recommended fantasy option.
