Stork announced Tuesday via his personal Twitter account that he would step away from professional football.
EDGE Analysis
Stork, 26, declined to officially label his decision as a retirement, but for at least the time being, it sounds like he has no intention of playing after having suffered from multiple concussions during his career. The former fourth-round pick played two seasons with the Patriots before being released from the team last August. He started 17 of the 21 career games in which he played.

The Patriots have released Stork.
EDGE Analysis
Stork, who reverted to the Patriots after failing his physical with Washington, will now look to catch on elsewhere once he re-proves his health. Given that he has NFL starting experience (including 17 over the last two seasons) with the Patriots, he could help out a center-needy team down the road.

Stork will return to the Patriots after failing his physical with the Redskins, thus nullifying last week's trade, ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stork's reason for failing the physical is unknown right now, but he has an extensive history of concussions. Whatever it may be, Stork will not join the Redskins, and it's unlikely the Patriots will welcome him back onto the team. Stork was reportedly considering retirement upon hearing of his trade last week, so it'll be interesting to see what his next career move is.

Amid rumors of his potential retirement, Stork is expected to play in the Redskins' third preseason game Friday against the Bills, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stork was acquired from the Patriots on Wednesday in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick, but rumors have spread that Stork was seriously considering retirement upon hearing the news of his relocation. However, those rumors will presumably be put to rest if the center ultimately does suit up for Friday's preseason tilt. Assuming he stays in Washington, Stork (6-4, 310) will likely take over starting center duties from struggling incumbent Kory Lichtensteiger, adding size, toughness and a bad attitude in the trenches to an already-solid offensive line.

Stork, who the Patriots traded to Washington on Wednesday, is now thought to be considering retirement, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
EDGE Analysis
Initial reports suggested that the Patriots planned to release the center, but a deal with Washington was worked out. Given that the compensation was a conditional seventh-round draft pick, if Stork elects to retire, the pick would presumably revert back to Washington. Though just 25 years old, Stork has a history of concussions, which could factor into his decision-making process here.

The Patriots have traded Stork to Washington in exchange for a conditional draft pick, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
EDGE Analysis
Previous reports had indicated that the center was on track to be released by the Patriots, but in such a scenario he would have been subject to waivers. Thus, per Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, Washington elected to take the proactive measure of landing Stork -- an experienced NFL lineman -- in a trade.

Stork was released by the Patriots on Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stork, who was on the injured reserve list with a concussion, was released Wednesday. The starting center job is now in the hands of David Andrews. Stork could be picked up somewhere else, but his concussion history makes him a bit risky.

Stork (concussion) was back at practice Monday, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stork suffered a head injury during practice over a week ago, a recurring issue that placed him on the IR with a designation to return early in the 2015 season. He'll likely be monitored closely throughout training camp after suffering from numerous concussions during his career.

The Patriots have placed Stork (concussion) on IR with a designation to return.
EDGE Analysis
As a result, Stork won't be able to resume practicing for six weeks, and can't play until after he has been on the list for eight weeks. In the meantime, the Patriots will look to plug their staring center void with either Ryan Wendell or David Andrews.

ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss said Patriots rookie C Bryan Stork is a "viable competitor for the starting center job in training camp."
Stork's lack of athleticism limits his upside, but he is a smart player that will be given a shot to unseat incumbent starter Ryan Wendell during camp. Coming off a disastrous 2013 campaign and an offseason that saw him garner absolutely no interest on the free agent market, Wendell needs a strong camp to prove last season was just a blip on an otherwise stellar career.
