Former Chiefs and Cardinals QB Brodie Croyle has retired from football. A strong-armed former third-round pick out of Alabama, Croyle lasted just five seasons in the league due largely to poor accuracy and decision making. He was also chronically injury prone and never showed the ability to consistently move an offense. At age 29, Croyle's career ends with a 0-10 record and 8:9 TD-to-INT ratio. Croyle is now pursuing his real estate license.

Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio reported on Football Night in America that the Texans will likely sign free agent Brodie Croyle this week to be their No. 3 quarterback for the stretch run. Florio also reported that the Texans will likely roll with rookie T.J. Yates in the starting role for the rest of the season. Croyle would add a veteran presence on the roster, and perhaps push Kellen Clemens to hold the clipboard for Yates. Florio reiterated that Brett Favre almost certainly isn't coming out of retirement. He hasn't thrown a football since November 4.

The Dolphins worked out free agent QB Brodie Croyle. Miami currently only has Matt Moore behind Chad Henne, so a contract could be coming Croyle's way if he looked impressive at all during his workout. A third-round pick of the Chiefs in 2006, Croyle is 181-of-319 for 1,669 yards, eight touchdowns and nine interceptions over parts of 18 games in his career. He was one of the Cardinals' final cuts earlier this month.

Cardinals waived QB Brodie Croyle, C Ben Claxton, WR Isaiah Williams, C Kris O'Dowd, FB Reagan Maui'a, OT Cliff Louis, OG Tom Pestock, RB William Powell, TE Stephen Skelton, and OT D.J. Young. The Cardinals aren't wasting any time, paring down their roster to 53 men on the first day of cuts. Skelton, an undrafted rookie from Fordham, was John's little brother. Powell was terrible in the preseason in his battle for the No. 3 running back job. Williams should find a home on the practice squad.

Cardinals agreed to terms with QB Brodie Croyle, formerly of the Chiefs. Croyle attracted little interest on the open market after imploding in a spot start last December. He's now 0-10 in his five-year NFL career as a starter. Croyle is only being brought in for practice depth with John Skelton (ankle) and Max Hall (shoulder) nursing injuries.
