Brian Westbrook told the Associated Press that he is experiencing memory loss that he believes was caused by concussions suffered on the field.
Westbrook, 33, said he can't remember names, recall facts, or retain new information. Westbrook miss two games after being knocked unconscious on the field in a game against the Redskins in 2009, then suffered another concussion in his first game back. He now says he shouldn't have been cleared to play so quickly.

Free agent Brian Westbrook has decided to retire.
He'll do so as an Eagle on Wednesday. Westbrook was serviceable for the 49ers in 2010, rushing 77 times for 340 yards (4.4 YPC) while reeling in 16 passes for 150 yards, but drew little interest on the open market last season. Still a week shy of his 33rd birthday, he'll retire with 10,275 yards from scrimmage and 71 touchdowns.

Free agent Brian Westbrook left Miami without signing a contract.
As expected. Westbrook said the workout went really well, but "they need some other players right now." Miami is content to misuse Reggie Bush as a feature back, supporting him with a washed up Larry Johnson and a rookie that's fallen out of favor in Daniel Thomas.

The Dolphins are expected to work out running backs Brian Westbrook, Thomas Clayton and an unknown player on Tuesday.
At this point in his career Westbrook is a poor man's Reggie Bush, so he doesn't make a ton of sense. Clayton is a journeyman that hasn't been able to stick on a roster in his four-year career. Even if Daniel Thomas is hurt for an extended period of time, neither player is the answer. The Fins' are probably just updating their free-agent list.

Brian Westbrook was "miserable" in San Francisco last season, according to beat writer Matt Maiocco.
Westbrook was a bench warmer until late November, so it's hardly a surprise that he wasn't thrilled with his role. It sounds like he wasn't a big fan of the Bay Area, either. If the 31-year-old lands a contract this summer, it will likely be with a team in the eastern time zone.
