Bears MLB Brian Urlacher sat out most of the second half of Sunday's Week 1 win over the Colts as the team attempted to manage his knee injury. Urlacher started the game, but finished with just two tackles and one pass breakup. "I don't like coming out of the game," Urlacher said. "But he's (Lovie Smith) the head coach. So I do what he says." The Bears insist Urlacher came out only as a "precaution." We'd bet he'll play a lot more in Week 2.

Bears MLB Brian Urlacher (knee) and FS Chris Conte (shoulder) are active, as expected, versus the Colts in Week 1. Adam Podlesh (hip) is handing punting duties. Bears inactives: P Ryan Quigley, WR Dane Sanzenbacher, S Jeremy Jones, OG Edwin Williams, DT Amobi Okoye and DE Cheta Ozougwu.

Bears head coach Lovie Smith could limit MLB Brian Urlacher's snaps on Sunday. While Urlacher expects to play the entire game, Smith and the Bears medical staff will keep a close eye on him against the Colts. Urlacher return to practice Friday after sitting out on Thursday to rest his surgically-repaired knee. He's a risky IDP play.

Bears MLB Brian Urlacher (knee surgeries) expects to play the entire game versus the Colts on Sunday. Urlacher revealed Thursday that the training-camp injury that required a knee scope was cartilage-related, different than the one suffered in the regular-season finale last year. He is practicing fully this week and insists the surgically-repaired knee feels "good."

Bears MLB Brian Urlacher (knee surgeries) resumed practicing on Monday. Urlacher said he woke up Tuesday pain-free. Asked what he would tell Bears fans worried about his knee, Urlacher replied, "Don't worry about it. Worry about something else. ... You know what the worst thing about yesterday's practice was? My sunburn on my neck that I got because I didn't wear my stinkin' hat." Urlacher fully expects to play in the season opener versus the Colts.

Bears MLB Brian Urlacher concedes his surgically-repaired left knee "just isn't the same anymore" and is "never going to be the same." Urlacher claims to be pain-free and intends to play Sunday versus the Colts, but acknowledges there will be early-season "restrictions" because the Bears don't want to "overwork" him. After reportedly undergoing three procedures this offseason, it's fair to question Urlacher's range and agility entering the season. He's not going to be the same player at age 34.

Bears MLB Brian Urlacher (knee) is expected to practice next week. The blood-spinning procedure in Europe must have done wonders for the 34-year-old's surgically repaired knee. A previous report suggested the Bears were pessimistic on Urlacher's Week 1 availability, but it now looks like he has a shot to suit up against Andrew Luck and the Colts.

The Bears are pessimistic that MLB Brian Urlacher (knee) will be ready for Week 1, according to NFL.com. Urlacher, 34, isn't practicing due to continued problems with his knee. Still, we wouldn't rule him out for Week 1 just yet. The blood-spinning procedure he underwent in Europe has produced remarkable results for others and Urlacher has earned a reputation as one of the toughest players in the league.

Brian Urlacher went to Europe in May or June to seek an alternative treatment on his knee. The Bears and Urlacher won't confirm it, but he almost certainly had the "Kobe surgery." Performed by German-based Dr. Peter Wehling, the non-invasive procedure involves taking blood from an athlete, spinning it and then injecting the protein-rich serum back into a troublesome knee. It worked wonders for Kobe Bryant last season and has also been used by Alex Rodriguez, Grant Hill, Vijay Singh and others. Urlacher still appears on target to be ready for Week 1.

CSN Chicago's John "Moon" Mullin reports Bears MLB Brian Urlacher's recent left knee surgery to alleviate swelling and soreness was not the first of the offseason. Two sources confirm Urlacher underwent a "non-invasive" procedure shortly after the season finale. One source added that Urlacher required an additional surgery in the spring. There's no indication that any of the procedures were more serious than a scope, but it's obviously a concern that Urlacher isn't fully recovered after eight months. The Pro Bowler reiterated his belief Thursday that he will be on the field for the season opener versus the Packers.
