Daily Dynasty Notes - January 6, 2014 fantasysharks.com Mon 1/6/14 7:00 AM
Welcome to Daily Dynasty Notes! This is not going to be a formal article, but instead will be my thoughts as I go about my daily research. Some things may have a basis in fact, while others might just be my opinion. Either way, I'm here to help guide you through the offseason towards what will hopefully be a successful 2014 season.
MONDAY, JANUARY 6, 2014
We're having some pretty crazy weather here in the Chicago area the last few weeks. We just got hit with over 20 inches of snow in the last 4-5 days and now we're about to set record low temps for January 6th. According to blog.ChicagoWeatherCenter.com...
With the midnight temperature of minus-2 virtually certain to be the high for Monday, it will be a new record low maximum for January 6th, besting the old record of minus-1 set in 1912. The day's record low of minus-14 recorded in 1988 is also in jeopardy as readings are expected to fall to 15 to 20 below zero by morning.
But be that as it may, we've still got some football to talk about. I think for today we'll just start off with a list of players that have a varying degree of upside heading into the 2014 season. This is not a complete and exhaustive list, just a quick list to get us started.

Bryce Brown, RB, Philadelphia
Latavius Murray, RB, Oakland
Christine Michael, RB, Seattle

Waiver Wire Wonders - Week 16 fantasysharks.com Tue 12/17/13 7:00 AM
In a week where so many contenders with so much to gain went down in defeat, we once again look for fantasy players that can be of help to the fantasy owner that is still battling at this late stage in the season. Those in keeper or partial keeper leagues should also be on the lookout. While most owners out of the playoffs have packed it in, take a look at what is out there and see if you can grab a nugget or two, something that will bear fruit next season.
We've got a dozen players to talk about this week. As usual, a heavy dose of wide receivers with some running backs and tight ends sprinkled in. A single quarterback also gets a mention this week, there's something for everyone!
Solid Pickups
RB Jordan Todman, Jacksonville
Playing in place of the injured Maurice Jones-Drew, Todman excelled in carrying the entire running load for the Jaguars. He rang up more than 150 yards in total offense, coming on 25 rushes and four catches out of the backfield. Denard Robinson was not even an afterthought, it was the Todman show all day against Buffalo. Jacksonville welcomes the Tennessee Titans and their porous rushing defense, meaning Todman is primed to have another big day if Jones-Drew sits out this game. Even if he's back, Todman figures to have carved out at least a 50-50 split of the rushing load.
TE Zach Ertz, Philadelphia
We had Ertz listed in our deepest category last week, but after another eye-opening fantasy performance, he makes his way into this week's top category. Though the spike in his stats was because the Eagles abandoned the running game this week, he is getting more action than Brent Celek. Six catches for 57 yards and a touchdown against Minnesota is enough for us to give him a recommended pickup.
TE Andrew Quarless, Green Bay
With back-to-back good fantasy weeks in the books, Quarless is shaping up to be a viable fantasy option these last few weeks of the season. Repeating the numbers he had the prior week against Atlanta, Quarless put up an identical line of six catches for 66 yards and a score against Dallas. Brandon Bostick was carted off the field with a foot injury, which will solidify the opportunity that Quarless has to excel.
On the Radar
WR Robert Woods, Buffalo
Looking as healthy as he has all season, Woods and E.J. Manuel are clicking once again. Against Jacksonville, Woods caught five passes for 82 yards and a touchdown. He has seen a steady growth in his numbers the past three games. We are confident...
Waiver Wire Wonders - Week 11 fantasysharks.com Tue 11/12/13 5:00 AM
We set aside our top category this week, as nothing stands out as being ‘Smokin' Hot.' There are plenty of players in all our other categories, many of which can be fantasy contributors right away. All the key positions have players worth looking at this week, including a pair of quarterbacks and a trio of tight ends. Several fantasy players are ready to emerge in the coming weeks, so grab them before they become hot commodities.
We continue to be high on several running backs that are owned in most formats, but not all, and we'd pick them up over all the players listed this week. This list includes Rashad Jennings (Oakland), Andre Brown (New York Giants), Bernard Pierce (Baltimore) and Shane Vereen (New England). At the wide receiver position, those falling into that same category include Aaron Dobson (New England), Kenny Stills (New Orleans) and Jarrett Boykin (Green Bay).
Fear not, if those players are gone, we've got something for everyone in this week's wonders!
Solid Pickups
TE John Carlson, Minnesota
Last week we mentioned Carlson as a "deep" look, this week he graduates as one of this week's top waiver wire pickups. Starting in place of the injured Kyle Rudolph, Carlson caught seven passes for 98 yards and a touchdown against Washington. Rudolph was averaging close to 50 yards per game. Based on this first week without Rudolph, we look for Carlson to keep those numbers going as the starting Vikings' tight end.
WR Rishard Matthews, Miami
The loss of Brandon Gibson clears a spot for Matthews in the lineup, and Monday night against Tampa Bay had him being featured in the slot position. Ryan Tannehill looked in his direction early and often in the contest, as Matthews rang up close to 100 yards in the first half alone, including a touchdown pass. Matthews is worth owning as a low-end wide receiver in all formats.
QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tennessee
With Jake Locker done for the season, the Titans will turn to Fitzpatrick for the duration of the season as their starter. To go along with 264 passing yards, he threw two touchdowns and no interceptions. Of more importance is Fitzpatrick's ability to run, as he also ran his way into the end zone this week. As the starter going forward, Fitzpatrick is worth owning as a backup fantasy quarterback.
On the Radar
RB Brian Leonard, Tampa Bay
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to rip through running backs, with this week's starter Mike James leaving Monday night's game early with an apparent...
