Smelley signed a 2015 contract with the Rams on Monday, Howard Balzer of lockerdome reports. Smelley was released by the Rams before the 2014 season began and he was without a team until Monday. The 25-year-old currently has a total of four NFL games under his belt and will likely have a hard time earning playing time come the 2015 season, if he even makes the final roster.

Texans waived FB Brad Smelley. Smelley has just four NFL appearances to his name, but had been atop the Texans' depth chart late last season. It's possible he wasn't 100 percent healthy after tearing his calf in Week 16. Sixth-round rookie Jay Prosch is now the Texans' lead blocker.
