The 26-year-old fell victim to roster cutdowns at the start of the season but rejoined the Jags in early October with numerous injuries to the tight end group. Koyack has been cut multiple times since being drafted in the seventh round by Jacksonville in 2015, but he's still appeared in 48 games with the team. He'll hit free agency in March, but he could rejoin the Jaguars if they're in need of a run-blocking tight end.

Koyack is presumably battling fellow 2015 draftee James O'Shaughnessy for the third tight end spot, and in that regard, he gave a solid accounting of himself Thursday. The fifth-year pro showed some promise with a 19-161-1 line during his rookie season, but he's logged just five receptions (seven targets) across 23 games over the subsequent pair of campaigns.

Heiman's early roster projection does not include Koyack. Instead, he lists James O'Shaughnessy as the favorite to land the No. 3 role behind offseason addition Geoff Swaim and third-round rookie Josh Oliver. There's plenty of time for Koyack to make his bid for a spot on the 53-man roster, though, and it's not impossible that Jacksonville carries four tight ends into the regular season. In seven games with the Jaguars last year, Koyack logged 111 offensive snaps without seeing a single target in the passing game.

Koyack is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Texans due to a hand injury.

Koyack will miss out on his final chance to catch a pass in 2018 if he's unable to retake the field. As long as Koyack remains sidelined, Blake Bell should benefit from a slight uptick in snaps.
