Boulware signed with the 49ers' practice squad Tuesday.

Boulware is a physical linebacker with the ability to play in a nickel package, but he lacks the quick reaction time necessary to make it in the NFL. He'll work with the practice squad this season with hopes of earning himself a special teams role in the future.

Boulware was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Panthers.

Boulware didn't hear his name called during the 2017 NFL Draft, but the former Clemson linebacker was signed shortly thereafter by Carolina. In his senior year at Clemson, Boulware notched 113 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks to go along with five career interceptions. He'll participate in the Panthers' rookie minicamp later in the week as he looks to provide depth at linebacker.
