The Buccaneers signed Johnson to a reserve/future contract Monday, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson, who spent this past offseason in Tampa Bay, finished the 2017 campaign on the Buccaneers' practice squad. The Tennessee product will battle with Antony Auclair and Alan Cross for slotting on the bottom of the depth chart this offseason.

The Buccaneers signed Johnson to their practice squad Wednesday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Buccaneers promoted three of their practice-squad players to the active roster after five players were moved to injured reserve Wednesday, so Johnson will assume one of the open spots. The fullback previously appeared in one game for the Buccaneers in 2016, logging eight special-teams snaps in the contest.

The Buccaneers waived Johnson on Saturday, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson appears to be the odd man out in a battle between him, Alan Cross, and Antony Auclair to make the final roster. He could be a candidate for the team's practice squad, but if not he will have to look for a new opportunity.

Johnson was promoted to the Buccaneers' active roster from the practice squad Wednesday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson's spot on the active roster was made possible the placement of Charles Sims (pectoral) on IR. Johnson figures to serve as a blocker out of the backfield during Sunday's regular season finale against the Panthers.

Johnson injured his knee during Thursday's practice, Nick Underhill of The Advocate reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson underwent an MRI on Thursday after injuring his knee and the results of that haven't yet been released, leaving him without a timetable for return. Since joining the Saints in 2014, the fullback has played in 17 games, totaling just 31 yards rushing and one touchdown. A bulk of his snaps come on special teams, where he played 39 percent of the teams snaps last year. His lack of offensive production renders him irrelevant in nearly all fantasy formats this season.

The Saints signed Johnson on Wednesday, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson has jumped between the Saints' 53-man roster and practice squad over the past three seasons, but in 17 appearances between 2014 and 2015, he totaled 12 carries for 31 yards and seven receptions (on 10 targets) for 45 yards. At the outset of the offseason, he'll be measuring himself against fellow fullback Toben Opurum.

The Saints released Johnson on Tuesday, NOLA.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson appeared in six games for the Saints this season and even started one, but he was deemed expendable after being declared inactive twice of the last four weeks.

Johnson is inactive for Sunday's game against the Colts, Evan Woodberry of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Saints will go without a fullback in Sunday's game, instead opting to keep Marcus Murphy active as a fourth tailback. Johnson has rarely handled the ball this season while serving primarily in a blocking capacity, as he's logged just four carries for nine yards and a touchdown over his five games.

Johnson scored on a one-yard touchdown dive in Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson, the Saints' starting fullback, vultured a score early in the fourth quarter, after Mark Ingram was stopped just shy of the goal line. Though the Saints have shown that they are comfortable using Johnson in short-yardage situations, with on four total touches through two games (two carries for five yards and two receptions for five yards), Johnson will likely be more of a nuisance for owners of Saints' running backs than a worthwhile fantasy option in most leagues.

Johnson has won the starting fullback job, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
EDGE Analysis
Though Johnson is primarily a blocker, the Saints have not traditionally not shied away from using their fullbacks and tight ends near the goal line, and with Jimmy Graham in Seattle, the team is woefully thin at tight end. Assuming the report is accurate and Johnson will indeed start the year at fullback for the Saints, he could have some sneaky value in very deep, touchdown-heavy leagues - though he's not a recommended play in the majority of leagues.
