Dolphins released OL Artis Hicks from injured reserve.
Per the Miami Herald, Hicks had his contract terminated for "failure to disclose an existing neck injury." Hicks was projected to start at right guard before going down in August. An 11-year veteran with extensive experience at both guard and tackle, Hicks could latch on elsewhere before season's end if he's healthy.

Dolphins placed OL Artis Hicks (neck) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Projected to start at right guard over enigma John Jerry, Hicks appears to have aggravated a mid-August neck injury. Jerry came down with an undisclosed injury in the preseason finale, leaving the position in flux entering the season. Turning 34 in November, Hicks may be hitting the end of the line as an NFL player.

The Palm Beach Post confirms Artis Hicks ran ahead of John Jerry as the starting right guard for most of the Dolphins' offseason program.
Jerry had a chance to nail down a starting job after the Dolphins let veteran Vernon Carey walk, but apparently isn't ready to shed his "bust" label just yet. It will bode extremely poorly for Jerry's Miami future if he can't overtake Hicks in camp.

Dolphins G/T Artis Hicks spent the final two weeks of minicamp as the starting right guard.
Hicks was signed as offensive line depth, but has since moved ahead of RG John Jerry on the Dolphins depth chart. According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Jerry reported to OTAs at 350 pounds and "there are concerns" about his stamina and ability to pull effectively. The Sun-Sentinel also suggests Miami hasn't ruled out signing free agent RG Jake Scott, who was invited to the team's minicamp for the second time last week.

Dolphins G/T Artis Hicks has been lining up exclusively at tackle in OTAs.
With Lydon Murtha expected to get the first crack at swing tackle duties behind LT Jake Long and RT Jonathan Martin, it means Hicks is fourth on the depth chart. Hicks could still end up seeing time at right guard if the Dolphins don't like what they see from John Jerry in camp.

Dolphins signed G/T Artis Hicks to a one-year, $2 million contract.
Hicks' best days are behind him at age 33, but his versatility appeals to a Dolphins team searching for a new right tackle and right guard. Most likely, Hicks will provide insurance in case John Jerry isn't ready for a full-time role.

Free agent G/T Artis Hicks is reportedly meeting with the Dolphins on Wednesday.
The Dolphins have openings at right guard and right tackle. Hicks has experience at both spots and could play a swing role if necessary. He was relegated to a backup role in Cleveland last season.

Artis Hicks is starting at right tackle Sunday with Tony Pashos (ankle) inactive.
Oniel Cousins was expected to get the start, but the Browns know he would have gotten whipped by highly-athletic Colts LE Robert Mathis. Hicks isn't much better, but he has a little more mobility. We're expecting a run-heavy attack for the Browns today. Other inactives: QB Thaddeus Lewis, WR Carlton Mitchell, S Eric Hagg, LB Titus Brown, OL Steve Vallos and TE Jordan Cameron.

Browns agreed to terms with T/G Artis Hicks.
The Redskins had no luck finding a trade partner. Hicks offers the versatility to play tackle or guard. With the Browns, he's veteran insurance for rookie Jason Pinkston at left guard.

The Redskins are reportedly trying to trade T/G Artis Hicks.
Hicks is due $1.15 million, and the Redskins would prefer to carry a younger lineman as a backup. The Vikings are desperate for help at guard and tackle and may be interested in reuniting with Hicks.
