Williams received just two carries for zero yards in Saturday's game against the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
Meanwhile, Rashad Jennings carried the ball nine times and scored a goal-line touchdown. Williams' lack of involvement as the starters played a full half is concerning for his fantasy prospects heading into the season, especially after rumors that he would receive first crack at goal-line carries. One should not overreact to a preseason game, but Saturday's events weren't great for Williams' fantasy prospects to start the year.

The Giants' signing of Shane Vereen could cost Williams some touches next season, but the move is more likely to impact Rashad Jennings. Williams wasn't going to have a significant third-down or pass-catching role anyway, and Vereen will likely see only occasional early-down work. Williams will likely split early-down work with Jennings, while Vereen sees most of his work as a receiver out of the backfield and on third downs.

Williams (shoulder) had 15 carries for 43 rushing yards and a touchdown, as well as three catches on three targets for 19 receiving yards during Sunday's loss to the Eagles. Williams was expected to be limited in the game after being listed as questionable due to a shoulder injury, but he finished with five more carries (and 10 more rushing yards) than Rashad Jennings, who was expected to get a bigger share of the backfield touches. With both backs under contract beyond even next season, they'll likely battle it out for the starting job in training camp next year. Williams finished the year with 217 carries for 721 yards and seven touchdowns, all of which outpaced Jennings.

Williams (shoulder) is active for Sunday's contest versus the Eagles, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports. Williams, who was limited in practice all week, was given questionable status for Week 17 upon the release of Friday's injury report. Although he'll tough out his shoulder issue, Rashad Jennings (ankle) seems like a better bet to produce out of the Giants' backfield due to entering the weekend with a probable designation. With a split of the reps imminent, Williams is unlikely to uphold his standard from the previous three games (285 yards on 68 carries, four receptions for 25 yards, and one rushing touchdown).

Williams (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Both Williams and fellow running back Rashad Jennings (ankle) practiced on a limited basis all week, but the Giants are more optimistic about Jennings' status for Week 17, as he was listed on the injury report with a probable designation. A final call on Williams' status likely will not come until game day, but with Jennings set to return to action after missing last weeks' game, Williams does not seem likely to receive a hefty workload even if he is able to suit up.

Williams (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice, the Giants' official site reports. Williams joins fellow running back Rashad Jennings (ankle) with a cap in practice reps, and the latter's potential return Sunday against the Eagles could dim Williams' prospects. In the past three games, the rookie has gathered 285 yards on 68 carries (4.2 YPC), four receptions (on 10 targets) for 25 yards, and one rushing touchdown. Such production would be difficult to sustain with Jennings back in the fold, meaning the duo's status should be watched with a keen eye to learn the upcoming breakdown of snaps.

Williams had 26 carries for 110 yards in Sunday's win over the Rams. With Rashad Jennings (ankle) out, Williams dominated the carries for New York. He looked especially strong on an impressive 45-yard carry, the longest of the afternoon for either team. With little reason to rush a gimpy Jennings back for Week 17, the Giants may lean on Williams again in the season finale.

Rashad Jennings (ankle) is officially out for Sunday's game against the Rams, ESPN's Dan Graziano reports. Williams is expected to start at running back. Jennings' ankle injury is leading to plenty of opportunities for Williams (42 carries over the last two weeks), but it won't be easy for him to be productive against a stout Rams defense that ranks 12th in the NFL against the run and hasn't given up a rushing touchdown in the last two weeks. Still, he should be a good bet for 15-plus carries, so he'll have value depending on your situation.

With Rashad Jennings (ankle) not practicing Wednesday, there's a good chance Williams starts this week against the Rams. The Rams run defense is above average, and with the exception of the Titans game, Williams has struggled for the most part during his rookie season. Still, he's a good bet to get double-digit touches this week.

Williams had 18 carries for 44 rushing yards and one catch on four targets for nine receiving yards Sunday against the Redskins. Rashad Jennings aggravated his ankle injury on his first carry in the first quarter, which left Williams to get a vast majority of the backfield touches after that. The rookie has struggled for the most part this season, though he torched the Titans for 131 yards and a touchdown in Week 14. With Jennings clearly hobbled, Williams could very well get the start in Week 16 against the Rams, though it'll be a tough matchup against a defense ranked 12th against the run this season.
