Ellington was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a quadriceps injury, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ellington's production fell off a cliff with Adrian Peterson in the backfield Sunday, but an ailment may have been to blame for no touches and only 13 offensive snaps. No matter, Ellington likely won't receive many, if any, carries moving forward, meaning he'll have to make his hay as a receiver. Without a significant snap count, he'll be hard-pressed to put up consistent production.

Ellington was not targeted nor did he record a carry in Sunday' 38-33 win over Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
Many expected the addition of Adrian Peterson to shake up Arizona's backfield, but few could have guessed that it would have been so dramatic, with 134 yards and two scores in his first game in red and black. Ellington, meanwhile, saw his production take a dive from 82.7 yards per game over the past three weeks to nada. Arizona was up 31-6 after three quarters and so there was less need for a scat back like Ellington than a power-puncher like Peterson. Moving forward, Ellington might still be able to make an impact as a receiver, his strongest suit and an area in which Peterson has seldom been a major factor, but Ellington's value has definitely taken a big fall in the past week.

Ellington hauled in nine of 10 targets for 65 yards and lost two yards on his lone carry in Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Eagles.
EDGE Analysis
Perhaps no Cardinal has benefited more from the loss of David Johnson than Ellington, who is well on his way to shattering career marks in receptions, targets, and receiving yards. The Cardinals seem to be giving Chris Johnson the bulk of the carrying while letting Ellington catch passes out of the backfield. His three straight games of at least five catches should, alone, place him on radars in PPR leagues. Don't be surprised if he starts eating into Johnson's carries as well as the veteran back has averaged just over two yards per carry over the last three weeks.

Ellington rushed five times for 18 yards and caught nine of 14 targets for 86 yards during Sunday's 18-15 overtime victory over the 49ers.
EDGE Analysis
Ellington's final stat line would have looked a little rosier had he gotten both feet inbounds on a potential 12-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter. Still, the 28-year-old scatback paced the Cardinals in targets Sunday and ultimately finished with over 100 yards of total offense. With both Chris Johnson and Kerwynn Williams having proved ineffective in lead roles thus far, it seems Ellington is here to stay and, having carved himself out a large role in the passing game, should particularly be a worthwhile fantasy option in PPR formats moving forward.

Ellington caught five of eight targets for 59 yards and rushed five times for 22 yards in Monday night's 28-17 loss to the Cowboys.
EDGE Analysis
Ellington surprisingly led the Cardinals in rushing, illustrating just how much they struggled in that department on the night. In doing so in seven fewer carries than Chris Johnson, however, Ellington could make a push for more handoffs in Week 4. Already a superior pass-catcher to Johnson, Ellington trailed only Larry Fitzgerald in the major receiving categories Monday. As a result, if he can get more carries, Ellington's fantasy stock could rise thanks to his versatility in David Johnson's (wrist) absence.

Ellington is slated to see most of his usage on third downs in the Cardinals' Week 2 matchup with the Colts on Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
With star back David Johnson (wrist) landing on injured reserve earlier this week and not expected back until December, Kerwynn Williams will get the first crack at serving as the team's lead back. However, since Ellington profiles as the Cardinals' top healthy pass catcher out of the backfield, Williams won't be in store for a Johnson-like workload, and the newly signed Chris Johnson could also see snaps in shorter-yardage situations. Williams is still on track to see most of the touches at running back, but Ellington could carry intrigue in deeper PPR formats while David Johnson is sidelined.

Ellington is in line for an increased workload due to the likely upcoming absence of David Johnson (wrist), Bob McManaman of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Bruce Arians confirmed the nature of Johnson's injury Monday, stating he has a dislocated left wrist. Rookie running back T.J. Logan is currently recovering from surgery on the same ailment, which requires an 8-12 week rehab process. In the meantime, Kerwynn Williams has already been named the feature RB, but his lack of pass-catching chops places Ellington in an intriguing position. During his 20-snap stint Sunday in Detroit, Ellington hauled in two of three passes for 35 yards, which lines up with his 68-percent career catch rate.

Ellington is listed as the third-string running back on the Cardinals' first depth chart of the season, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
When Ellington re-upped with the Cardinals in March, he was initially expected to make the switch from running back to wide receiver, but the experiment ended before the end of the offseason program. Another sign of waning support for Ellington was the signing of Chris Johnson just before the start of training camp. Ellington was able to flip the script with his play throughout the preseason, as he looked like the dynamic player of old with a three-yard touchdown run in the Hall of Fame Game. Plus, he reeled in nine of 12 targets for 67 yards, making him another RB capable of contributing as a receiver (also, David Johnson). The Cardinals opted to cut (Chris) Johnson on Friday, but Ellington is behind (David) Johnson and Kerwynn Williams in the pecking order, so snaps will be hard to come by on a weekly basis.

Ellington had five carries for 17 yards and a touchdown and caught two of three targets for 15 yards in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game against the Cowboys.
EDGE Analysis
With David Johnson and Chris Johnson both held out, Kerwynn Williams handled the opening drive and capped it off with a touchdown. Ellington then played throughout the rest of the first half, suggesting he's only No. 4 in the current pecking order. With his experiment at wide receiver ending earlier this offseason, Ellington is now battling Williams for what might only be one roster spot, though both players saw their odds improve when rookie fifth-round pick T.J. Logan dislocated his wrist during Thursday's game. Chris Johnson is the best handcuff bet for David Johnson owners.

Ellington, who switched to the wide receiver position earlier in the offseason, has moved back to running back, Kent Somers of AZ Central Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ellington had originally planned to move to wide receiver after experiencing a huge reduction in snaps throughout the past two seasons due to the emergence of stud RB David Johnson. Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said Ellington needs to work on running tougher and not going down as easy after a 2016 campaign in which he averaged just 2.8 yards per carry on 34 attempts. With Ellington no longer in the conversation at wideout, 2017 third-round pick Chad Williams could see additional work in training camp.
