The San Francisco 49ers worked out free-agent running backs Charcandrick West, Matt Dayes, Shane Vereen, Andre Ellington and Jeremy McNichols this week and signed Dayes to their practice squad, according to a source. With Matt Breida (ankle) highly questionable to play on Monday night against Green Bay, the Niners are looking for some depth at the position. Expect Alfred Morris to be a high-volume RB2 if Breida can't play, with Raheem Mostert and Kyle Juszczyk filling in.

1 year agoAndre Ellington Inactive For Texans rotoballer.com
This article references Andre Ellington and more! Houston Texans running back Andre Ellington, claimed off waivers this week from the Cardinals, is a healthy inactive Monday night against the Ravens. Ellington could become the main pass-catching back behind Lamar Miller before long, but Houston clearly didn't think he was ready for a large enough role right off the bat. Alfred Blue will serve as the primary change-of-pace back behind Miller on Monday night.Keep on reading: Andre Ellington Inactive For Texans

The fact that some players who weren't sure things to even make the final roster this preseason are suddenly viable for fantasy leagues speaks volumes on the volatility of the running back position. You still won't find any surefire starters on this list (not even Burkhead), but there's always the chance that some of these players stick as RB depth or serve as spot starters.

This article references Josh Johnson and more! The Houston Texans made two roster moves on Tuesday, cutting third-string quarterback Josh Johnson--a move that likely signals that Tom Savage will remain the team's starting quarterback for the remainder of the season--and claiming former Arizona Cardinals running back Andre Ellington off waivers to replace D'Onta Foreman, who will miss the rest of the season after tearing his Achilles. Ellington will likely see the field as Lamar Miller's backup and could have some value in PPR leagues.Keep on reading: Texans Cut Josh Johnson, Claim Andre Ellington

This article references Andre Ellington and more! The Arizona Cardinals released running back Andre Ellington on Monday after he was a surprise healthy inactive in Week 11 against the Texans. D.J. Foster, who was active in Ellington's place Sunday, will take over Ellington's role as the backup to lead back Adrian Peterson. Foster had only two catches for 26 yards on nine offensive snaps in Week 11, so he's not a notable fantasy asset unless Peterson is injured.Keep on reading: Andre Ellington Released

ANALYSIS: It may have been a meaningless touchdown that Andre Ellington scored on Thursday night, but it's a reminder that he could still have fantasy value even in a struggling offense. He was stymied in Week 11, catching just three of six targets for 26 yards and running for four yards, but it did come against the Seattle defense. Doubters may also point to the fact that the Cards may be down to their third-string QB[...]Keep on reading: Andre Ellington (RB, ARI) - Week 11 Waiver Wire Adds
