Out of all the Patriots new acquisitions, DE Andre Carter has had the biggest impact, according to the Providence Journal. Carter was a shrewd pickup for the Pats. While he was misused in Washington, he still has pass-rushing ability and is underrated against the run. Carter drew three holding penalties in Thursday's preseason game against the Bucs.

Patriots agreed to terms with DE Andre Carter. If there was still any doubt the Pats were going to more of a 4-3 look this year, the Carter signing should put it to rest. Both he and Haynesworth made it clear that they were unhappy after the Redskins switched to a 3-4 scheme last season. Now 32, Carter is a nice pickup so late in free agency. He fills a much-needed situational pass rusher role in New England.

Free agent DE Andre Carter worked out for the Giants on Tuesday. The 32-year-old is ready to get back to a 4-3 scheme. The Giants may have been looking at him as depth if Osi Umeyiora ends up in another uniform.
