Bayer has made the Rams' roster, Howard Balzer of 590 The Zone reports. The Rams opted to keep five tight ends, as they like to use three tight end sets on occasion. Bayer's ability as a pass-catcher impressed St. Louis in the preseason enough to keep him.

Bayer was the top pass-catcher for St. Louis in Friday's 26-24 preseason loss to New Orleans, grabbing five passes for 71 yards. Bayer may have actually locked up a roster spot Friday, as his impressive performance was paired with an injury to Mason Brodine, one of his main competitors for the fourth tight end spot.
