OLB Aaron Maybin has two sacks and three forced fumbles in three games as a Jet. Don't write off Maybin as a bust just yet. He was flying around the field last night, violently stripping at the ball. "I love the way he runs all over the place," coach Rex Ryan said. "He has a relentless motor and he's always thinking about getting those takeaways. ... Eventually, he's going to learn our whole defense and that's really going to be exciting."

Aaron Maybin is set for more playing time with Bryan Thomas (Achilles) done for the year. In his first regular season game as a Jet last Sunday night, Maybin came off the edge for a sack and forced a fumble. Now he's left as one of the only pure pass-rushers on the roster. The former first-round pick will be used plenty as a situational player against the Patriots Sunday.

Jets re-signed OLB/DE Aaron Maybin. Maybin survived the Jets' initial cutdown to 53, but was let go on Sept. 4 to make room for Kevin O'Connell. Now that C Robert Turner (leg) and TE Jeff Cumberland (Achilles) are on injured reserve, there's room to bring Maybin back. The 2009 No. 11 pick will just be a pass-rushing project for coach Rex Ryan to try to develop.

Titans worked out free agent OLB/DE Aaron Maybin Tuesday. Looking for depth at defensive end, Tennessee also worked out journeyman Alex Hall and former Ravens defensive lineman Lamar Divens.

Jets waived OLB Aaron Maybin, DT Martin Tevaseu, and CB Isaiah Truant. Even after 2.5 sacks in three preseason games, Maybin was reportedly considered a luxury, only to be kept on the roster if nobody better showed up. Trufant, a former UFL star, had just been re-signed last week.

Coach Rex Ryan said that Aaron Maybin "is going to have to do more" if he wants to make the final roster. The 2009 No. 11 overall pick hasn't done enough during his two weeks with the Jets. Maybin is behind a former undrafted free agent in Jamaal Westerman and a former CFL player in Garrett McIntyre. Tonight's preseason finale is his last chance to make an impression.

Jets agreed to terms with OLB Aaron Maybin on a one-year contract. "I think he's got some talent, some pass rush ability," explained coach Rex Ryan. "We don't need him to be a starter. We'll see." The Jets are essentially kicking the tires on Maybin, seeing if he has anything to offer on a one-year deal for the third-year minimum. According to reports, Maybin's weight is up to 242 after he initially reported to Jets camp at 228 following an offseason bout with pneumonia. Maybin drew high marks for his effort in Buffalo, but hasn't shown the ability to play football well at the NFL level. That figures to be his undoing in New York. He isn't guaranteed a roster spot.

Free agent OLB Aaron Maybin will sign with the Jets pending a physical, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. A one-year deal should become official today. Much like ex-Jet Vernon Gholston, Maybin was drafted as a pass-rushing demon in the top part of the first round. And just like Gholston, Maybin has shown no ability to get to the quarterback during his two year career. Coach Rex Ryan will have his hands full trying to coach up the ex-Bill, who reported to camp at 228 pounds.

The two teams interested in free agent OLB Aaron Maybin are the Bears and Jets, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Another report had Maybin already passing on an offer from the Bears, so the Jets have to be considered the heavy favorite here. If Rex Ryan can't get the former No. 11 overall pick motivated and coached up, perhaps no one can. He'd fit better in the Jets' 3-4 scheme than the Bears' 4-3.

Free agent OLB Aaron Maybin is expected to decide on a team Wednesday morning. Maybin's camp has already told the Bears and 49ers "Thanks, but no thanks." The Jets have made a one-year offer, and the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta hears five or six other teams have made similar offers. The Colts and Broncos are two of the teams reported to be involved.
