Colvin was released by Washington on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Colvin was an occasional healthy scratch with Washington last year, so it's not surprising that he was cut after the team added Kendall Fuller (undisclosed) and Ronald Darby this offseason. The 28-year-old Colvin worked in a steady role with Washington when he was active, though, averaging 31 defensive snaps per game. He'll seek a depth role elsewhere.

The Redskins re-signed Colvin on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Colvin accrued 10 tackles and one defended pass across six games (two starts) for Washington in 2019. The 28-year-old figures to kick off the 2020 campaign in a depth role, but if he manages to make a good impression on new coach Ron Rivera it wouldn't be surprising for Colvin to get a shot to more regularly contribute.

Colvin (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
Colvin was expected to be active for the game while Josh Norman notched a healthy scratch, but the team had a change of heart. Colvin has played just five special teams snaps for the Redskins this season, so his absence won't affect the defense. The team will roll with Norman and Simeon Thomas as depth cornerbacks Sunday.

Colvin signed a contract with the Redskins on Friday, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Redskins need reinforcements in the secondary with Quinton Dunbar (knee) deemed questionable and Fabian Moreau (ankle) listed as doubtful for Sunday's game versus the Cowboys. Colvin brings plenty of experience to the table, as he was a strong slot corner for the Jaguars in 2017. However, he struggled with the Texans last season and was a liability in coverage for them Week 1 versus the Saints, leading to his release from the team. It's unclear what role Colvin will have on the Redskins' defense, but with so many injuries he may be immediately plugged into a starting role.

The Texans released Colvin on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
After an excellent season as the slot corner in a dominant Jaguars defense in 2017, Colvin landed a four-year, $34 million contract last March from the Texans, who were counting on him to be a linchpin in their secondary. He turned in a disappointing first season in Houston, struggling with injuries while contributing only one pass breakup in 10 games before he was a healthy inactive for the postseason loss to Indianapolis. Colvin didn't show much improved form in the Week 1 loss to the Saints, as his poor coverage contributed to two of New Orleans' second-half touchdowns. The poor showing was enough to convince the Texans to pull the plug on the 27-year-old, who will still take home $7.5 million in guaranteed money as he heads to the free-agent market. His departure likely paves the way for rookie second-round pick Lonnie Johnson to assume a more prominent role at cornerback.

Colvin (ankle) is listed as a full participant in Thursday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
Colvin appears to have finally recovered from the lingering ankle injury which has cause him to miss six straight contests. The Texans did not actually practice Thursday, but the slot cornerback's designation as a full participant nonetheless indicates that he's trending towards a return to the field during Monday's game against the Titans.

Colvin (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Redskins.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Bill O'Brien upgraded Colvin to a game-time decision heading into the weekend, but didn't offer much faith in Colvin's availability, as he relayed that the slot cornerback was "a little further away" from playing than Johnathan Joseph (knee/ankle). Joseph ultimately gained clearance to play, but Colvin will be sidelined for a sixth straight contest while he continues to work back from a nagging ankle injury. If Colvin can practice fully at some point next week, he'll have a better chance at returning to action in the Texans' subsequent contest Nov. 26 against the Titans.

Colvin (ankle) is questionable for Sunday'as game against the Redskins.
EDGE Analysis
Colvin hasn't seen game action since Week 4 but was a limited practice participant this week and appears to be nearing a return. Kareem Jackson should continue to see reps at cornerback with Tyrann Mathieu and Justin Reid starting at safety.

Colvin (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Colvin has not suited up since Week 4 due to a lingering ankle injury, but appears to have made real progress in his recovery during Houston's bye. If the 27-year-old is not able to return to the field Week 11, expect Michael Tyson to serve as the primary backup to starter Shareece Wright.

Colvin (ankle) was downgraded from questionable to out for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
EDGE Analysis
Colvin was a limited practice participant this week but won't make the trip to Denver with the team. The 27-year-old hasn't seen game action since Week 4 against the Colts as he continues to battle the ankle injury. Michael Tyson saw 61 defensive snaps last week against the Dolphins and could be heavily involved once again with starting cornerback Jonathan Joseph (knee) also listed as questionable.
