Collins (ankle) has been ruled out of Tuesday's Game 1 against the Lakers, Marc Spears of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Collins tweaked his left ankle early in Saturday's play-in game against Memphis, forcing him out after just seven minutes of action. Two days later, Collins is still battling soreness and inflammation in the ankle, so he'll be held out of at least Game 1 of the Blazers' first-round series. Without Collins, Portland's already-shallow frontcourt depth will be tested even further. Wenyen Gabriel will get the starting nod in Collins' place.

EDGE Analysis
Collins played just seven minutes before leaving the court due to the injury. Wenyen Gabriel is absorbing much of Collins' workload.

Collins will start at power forward next to Jusuf Nurkic during Friday's restart opener against the Grizzlies, Aaron J. Fentress of The Oregonian reports.
EDGE Analysis
There was some buzz that Collins may come off the bench while Nurkic and Hassan Whitside started together, but coach Terry Stotts will opt for the spacing Collins provides. Friday's contest marks Collins' first game since Oct. 27. Last season, when he saw at least 24 minutes, he averaged 10.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.6 assists.

Collins had seven points (2-5 FG, 0-2 3PT, 3-4 FT) and five rebounds in Sunday's scrimmage against Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
The bigger news was that Collins moved to the bench, while coach Terry Stotts went with both Hassan Whiteside and Jusuf Nurkic in the starting lineup up front. It's unclear which alignment the Blazers will use during the seeding games, but the Collins vs. Whiteside battle will be one to monitor in the coming days.

Collins had six points (3-5 FG) and four rebounds in Thursday's scrimmage against the Pacers.
EDGE Analysis
In his first action since early in the regular season, Collins got the start at power forward and played just under 20 minutes, as was the case for the rest of Portland's starting five. Collins also chipped in an assist and a block, in addition to his six points and four boards.

Blazers guard Damian Lillard said on a call Wednesday that he expects Collins to be in the starting lineup when the season resumes in Orlando, Sean Highkin of Bleacher Report reports.
EDGE Analysis
Collins hasn't played since injuring his shoulder back in October, but he's been deemed fully healthy, and the face of the franchise sees him as the starter at power forward. The implication is that Jusuf Nurkic (leg) would take over for Hassan Whiteside at center, while Carmelo Anthony would likely start at small forward after Trevor Ariza opted out of playing in Orlando. For what it's worth, coach Terry Stotts did note that he hasn't ruled out starting Nurkic and Whiteside together.

Collins (shoulder) has been deemed fully healthy and can resume full basketball activities, Joe Freeman of The Oregonian reports.
EDGE Analysis
There was news earlier in June indicating that Collins was healthy, but this is further confirmation that he'll be a true participant in the Trail Blazers' resumed season. Collins concedes that his conditioning may not be up to NBA standards, but that will likely be the case for many, if not most, players around the league. It's not immediately clear what role he will play considering Jusuf Nurkic is healthy and will be sharing center minutes with Hassan Whiteside, and Carmelo Anthony is taking up starter's minutes at power forward. Regardless, whatever capacity Collins sees the floor in, he provides a unique three-and-D skillset in the frontcourt.

Collins (shoulder) has healed from his injury and is expected to play once the season resumes, Jason Quick of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Collins dislocated his shoulder during the third game of the season, leaving a gap at power forward that Carmelo Anthony eventually filled. The three-and-D big man gives the Blazers a unique set of choices in terms of lineup configuration.

Collins said in a recent interview that he's "on the right track" with his recovery from left shoulder surgery and noted that he hasn't experienced any setbacks in his rehab, Chris Burkhardt of NBC Sports Northwest reports.
EDGE Analysis
Before the NBA suspended its season March 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic, Collins had been eyeing a potential return during the postseason. Because teams haven't been holding practices during the shutdown, Collins hasn't had the opportunity to test out his shoulder in full-contract drills on the court, but he's likely to do so at some point in May, when clubs are expected to reopen their facilities. If Collins checks out well during his initial workouts, he could be ready to contribute whenever the season resumes.

Coach Terry Stotts said Monday that while Collins (shoulder) has resumed on-court work, the big man is "not even close to being ready for a full practice," Dwight Jaynes of NBC Sports Northwest reports.
EDGE Analysis
Collins has been sidelined since late October after requiring surgery to address a dislocated left shoulder, missing each of the Blazers' last 63 games before the NBA officially suspended its season Wednesday. Though commissioner Adam Silver confirmed Thursday that the league's hiatus is likely to last at least 30 days, Stotts' comment suggest that Collins may not be a lock to be ready to play if the NBA returns to action as early as mid-April. Since Collins was shut down following the Blazers' third game of the season, Carmelo Anthony has taken over as the club's starting power forward.
