The Rockets didn't include Howard on their 15-man roster for the resumption of the 2019-20 season in Orlando after the rookie signed a contract with French club LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Since his contract was set to expire this offseason and Howard wasn't expected to be included in the rotation had he made the trip to Orlando, the Rockets cleared him to pursue opportunities abroad. Houston will have to wait until the offseason to fill his two-way spot.

Splitting time between Salt Lake City and now the Vipers, Howard is averaging a fine 13.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists in the G League this year.

Howard amassed 14 points (6-15 FG, 2-10 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists and one steal in Tuesday's loss to the Hustle.

EDGE Analysis

Despite terrible shooting from behind the arc, Howard was one of three Vipers' starters to reach double figures offensively Tuesday. Over 18 G League outings this year, the 26-year-old is averaging 12.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals per contest.

Howard is signing a two-way contract with the Rockets on Friday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

It's currently unknown but it's likely though that Howard will be transferred over to the Rockets' G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, sometime Friday.

Howard tallied 11 points (4-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-3 FT) and nine rebounds in a win over Wisconsin on Friday.

Howard poured in 27 points (10-12 FG, 7-9 3PT) and contributed three rebounds, four assists and three steals in a victory over Rio Grande on Tuesday.

For the second consecutive game, Howard started at center and eclipsed his season high in scoring. He was nearly unstoppable from deep, making seven of his nine three-point attempts. At 6-foot-8, Howard profiles as a small forward at the NBA level. His standout shooting might get him there; he has now hit an eye-popping 63.9 percent (23-of-39) shots from behind the arc this season.

Howard racked up 24 points (9-15 FG, 5-8 3PT, 1-1 FT) and pulled down eight rebounds in Sunday's win over Austin.

EDGE Analysis

Howard moved into the starting lineup following Juwan Morgan's promotion to the Jazz and came through with his highest point total of the season. The 26-year-old has shown a nice touch from behind the arc this season, making 59 percent of his three-point attempts through six games.

Howard posted 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and one block over 30 minutes in Sunday's G League opener versus Sioux Falls.

EDGE Analysis

Howard spent last season playing with CSP Limoges in Europe and averaged 9.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 steals over 24.6 minutes per game in the various circuits. He appears headed for a similarly large role for the Stars this season.

Howard was waived by the Jazz on Monday, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.

EDGE Analysis

The undrafted forward was a longshot to make the squad, so his waiving doesn't come as a surprise. Assuming he clears waivers, Howard will likely have the opportunity to play for the Jazz's G League affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars, once the season begins.
