Matthews has brushed aside the Blazers' recent shooting woes, drilling at least three three-pointers in five consecutive games, and six of the past eight. During that stretch, he's averaged 18.4 points (on 41 percent shooting), 3.8 treys, 3.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.4 steals in 36 minutes. While he continues to hold a slim lead over Kyle Korver in terms of three-pointers made -- 148 versus 146 -- Matthews has nonetheless cobbling together the most productive season of his six-year career.

The seven three-pointers tied a season-high. In fact, Matthews has hit seven triples on three separate occasions this season , and trials only Steph Curry and Kyle Korver in three-pointers made per game this season, knocking down 3.0 three-pointers per game. Matthews is also averaging 1.0 steals per game and shoots an impressive 47 percent from the field over the course of the season.

Matthews only scored two points (1-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt) in 29 minutes of action Friday as the Trail Blazers lost to the Spurs.
This was Matthews' first game since Dec. 4 that he didn't make at least one three in a game. In category leagues, Matthews is great at putting up points, averaging 16.4 per game this season, and will pile up three-pointers, making an average of three each game. Matthews went to the emergency room with pain in his ribs Thursday, so it's unclear if he was held back due to that, but owners shouldn't be worried about him.

Matthews went to the emergency room Wednesday due to pain in his ribs, but he's expected to play Friday agains the Spurs, Jabari Young of Comcast SportsNet reports.
Matthews collided with Chris Paul late in Wednesday's loss to the Clippers, but he did not immediately appear to be in serious pain, so the reason for the ER visit is not explicitly clear. Regardless, Matthews is said to be feeling much better Thursday, and all signs point to him playing Friday.

Matthews wasn't wearing a brace on his left knee during Tuesday's practice, the Blazers' official site reports.
Last Monday, Jan. 5, Matthews hyperextended his left knee, which likely aided in a dour 1-for-9 shooting performance. However, in three games in the meantime, he's knocked down at least three three-pointers on each occasion en route to 17.3 points (on 60 percent shooting), 4.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 3.3 treys, and 2.3 steals in 33 minutes per outing. With the ailment behind him, he can focus on a tough slate that includes seven road tilts in the final 11 contests of January.

Matthews suffered a hyperextended knee during Monday's game against the Lakers and was consequentially considered questionable to play against the Heat on Thursday. Of course he managed to suit up and played right around his average of 33.6 minutes per game this season. Considering this successful outing, Matthews seems to be in the clear moving forward.

Matthews will "most likely" play Thursday against the Heat.
Matthews hyper-extended his left knee in Monday's game against the Lakers, but it appears as though he will play Thursday. It's unclear if he will see his normal minutes, but if he's playing, he should be a good bet. In the event he is unavailable, Allen Crabbe would likely see an increased role in his place.

Matthews is dealing with a hyper-extended left knee suffered in Monday's matchup against the Lakers, and it appears he has roughly a 50-50 shot to suit up for the Thursday evening tilt. If he's unable to go, look for Allen Crabbe to see increased run.

However, he was seen donning a brace during Wednesday's practice, after which he relayed his questionable status heading into Thursday. His availability could come down to a game-time call, but an absence would likely result in Allen Crabbe entering the starting five.

Matthews suffered a hyper-extended knee during Monday's five-point performance (1-9 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT) against the Lakers and said after the game that his injury affected him both physically and mentally throughout the contest, Erik Gundersen of The Columbian reports.
Matthews exited Monday's game for a brief amount of time but ultimately returned to the court and played 30 minutes. His negative comments after the game will likely be worth monitoring ahead of Thursday's contest against the Heat. Even though he returned to the court Monday, it might wise to consider him day-to-day since he experienced pain throughout the game.
