Caupain came to terms Sunday on a contract with Hapoel Holon of the Israeli Basketball Premier League, EuroBasket.com reports.

As a two-way player for the Magic last season, Caupain appeared in four contests, averaging only 4.0 minutes per appearance. After signing a camp deal with the Trail Blazers and failing to make the opening night roster, Caupain elected to head overseas rather than accepting a contract in the G League.

Portland will give him a training camp tryout, and it's possible Caupain will land a roster spot and be able to provide the team with additional backcourt depth.

Caupain has been a vital part of Lakeland's playoff-clinching roster, averaging 16.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.23 assists and 0.9 steals in 47 games.

Caupain will presumably practice with Orlando on Monday, but it's unclear if he'll stick around with the parent club through its next game Tuesday in Philadelphia. Even if he suits up for contest, Caupain wouldn't be included in coach Steve Clifford's rotation and would be looking at little more than garbage-time minutes.

Caupain finished Friday's loss to the Stars with 22 points (8-18 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two steals and one assist.

EDGE Analysis

There's a possibility Orlando's two-way player could factor more into the team's plans towards the end of the NBA regular season, but for the moment Caupain is a legitimate threat at the G League level. So long as Caupain continues to soak up minutes (he played 40 on Friday), it's hard to fathom the combo guard struggling to put together production.

Caupain scored 21 points (9-14 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 0-0 FT,) and earned 10 assists, five rebounds and two steals in Lakeland's 131-120 win over Agua Caliente on Wednesday.

Caupain has been a model of consistency for Lakeland ever since joining the team last year. Averaging 16.6 points per game this season on a shooting average of 45.7 percent, Caupain has shown he knows how to give himself good looks at the basket while acting as a catalyst for the offense. In the first quarter, Caupain picked up five points along with his three assists before taking over the second quarter with seven points. Caupain didn't have a great fourth quarter, but he had already all but locked up the win for Lakeland, who remain in second place in the Eastern conference.

Caupain totaled 24 points (8-17 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two steals across 32 minutes Saturday against Fort Wayne.

Caupain led his team in scoring on the day, knocking down an impressive five of nine attempts from beyond the arc in a 107-92 victory on the road. The 6-4 guard continues to play at a high level across the board for Lakeland, posting averages of 17.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.0 steal through 26 starts.
