He complemented the effort Thursday with 10 assists for his second straight double-double. Waters has registered double-digit points and at least seven assists in each of his past seven games.

Waters finished Sunday's G League loss to Fort Wayne with 16 points (5-18 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 10 assists, three rebounds and four steals across 41 minutes.

Waters struggled to find the bottom of the hoop -- especially from three-point range -- in the loss, but he did well as a playmaker to collect his third double-double for Wisconsin this season. The 24-year-old also tallied multiple thefts for the third straight contest and for the 15th time in 24 G League games. He is averaging 15.8 points, 6.2 dimes, 2.4 boards and 2.2 steals on the season.

Waters totaled 11 points (4-12 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 0-2 FT), 10 assists, five rebounds and a steal over 37 minutes for Wisconsin in a loss to the Greensboro Swarm on Saturday.

Waters didn't shoot particularly well in the loss, but he did just enough offensively and on the boards to register his first double-double since Wisconsin's opening game of the G League campaign. The 5-foot-10 guard has dished at least seven dimes in each of his past three games and is averaging 5.9 assists along with 15.2 points, 2.5 boards, 2.6 three-pointers and 2.1 steals on the season.

Waters tallied 19 points (7-12 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six assists and two rebounds over 30 minutes for Wisconsin in Wednesday's loss to Long Island.

Waters played in three NBA games between Toronto and Washington in late December and early January, but he entered health and safety protocols Jan. 3 and subsequently saw his 10-day hardship contract expire. The 24-year-old thus returned to the G League, where he logged his first appearance with the Herd since mid-December. Waters led Wisconsin in scoring in the contest and figures to take on a prominent role with the G League squad unless he is summoned back to the NBA.

The Wizards didn't re-sign Waters (COVID-19 health and safety protocols) after his 10-day contract expired Tuesday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Waters made one eight-minute appearance during the first two days of his 10-day deal before entering the protocols Jan. 3. He should receive full clearance to resume basketball activities soon, but since the Wizards have seemingly overcome a recent wave of COVID-19-related absences, the team isn't expected to receive a roster exemption that would allow it to keep Waters around. Expect Waters to head back to the G League's Wisconsin Herd.
