Updating previous reports, the Grizzlies are reluctant trade Tony Allen along with Tayshaun Prince to the Wolves in exchange for J.J. Barea and Chase Budinger. CBS Sports' Ken Berger now reports that trade talks have reached a "logjam," and USA Today's Sam Amick reports that the Grizzlies are "very unlikely" to part with Allen in the proposed deal. According to Amick, Memphis may also suspect that the talks are a play for Minnesota to gain leverage in another trade discussion (one which isn't being as aggressively leaked to the media). The basic elements of a proposed Wolves/Grizzlies trade has now been reported by multiple sources. If such a deal goes through it might involve Chase Budinger and J.J. Barea going to Memphis, where the solid play of Courtney Lee and James Johnson have made the idea of losing Allen more palatable.

Wwners should consider him 'out indefinitely', and this solidifies Courtney Lee's value for at least a while longer. Allen and Tayshaun Prince were both linked to the Wolves in recent trade chatter, but as with most rumors it's far from certain anything will come of it.

James Johnson has been very effective at the forward spots while Courtney Lee turned in quite a few gems in the starting lineup at shooting guard. Allen's perimeter defense is almost too valuable to keep out of the lineup, so it'll be interesting to see how the rotation on the wing works out. He's worth owning in most leagues as a steals specialist.

It should be inserting how the team will shift their rotations upon his return based on the very impressive play they've gotten out of Courtney Lee and James Johnson. It makes a lot of sense to stash Allen through the break in most formats.

His value once he's at full health is also questionable, as both Courtney Lee has emerged as potential threats to his starting SG job.

The veteran SG said he hopes to return "soon" and he's officially day-to-day, but it doesn't sound as though his Grade-2 sprain, which involves partially torn ligaments, has fully healed. Courtney Lee has played well in his absence and Allen is not guaranteed to start upon his return, so fantasy owners should view him cautiously until we've seen him playing in a game.

There's still no return date for Allen but it's nice to at least see him back on the court.
